AREZZO – Visite gratuite per le donne che parteciperanno all’incontro del 18 ottobre. Il dr. Ciro Sommella: «L’informazione è importante per vivere al meglio un periodo importante della propria vita e sfatare falsi miti e credenze». Open Day con un incontro informativo in occasione della Giornata Mondiale della Menopausa che si celebra il 18 ottobre e visite ginecologiche gratuite il giorno successivo per coloro che seguiranno la conferenza.
L’ospedale San Donato di Arezzo è uno dei 160 ospedali con Bollino Rosa che aderisce all’iniziativa di Fondazione Onda ETS. La giornata ad Arezzo si incentrerà sulla conferenza “Menopausa felice: mito o realtà?” organizzata dalla UOC di Ginecologia e Ostetricia del San Donato, in collaborazione con Comune di Arezzo, che si terrà venerdì 18 ottobre nella Sala Rosa al secondo piano di Palazzo Cavallo dalle 18 alle 19,30. Per le partecipanti alla conferenza saranno disponibili, il giorno successivo sabato 19 ottobre, ambulatori e medici della Ginecologia del San Donato per consulenza sulla menopausa. L’obiettivo è, infatti, quello di sensibilizzare le donne sui cambiamenti che accompagnano la menopausa e sulle strategie comportamentali, diagnostiche e terapeutiche che consentono, non solo di migliorare i disturbi che connotano le problematiche a breve termine, ma anche di prevenire e/o ridurre le complicanze a medio-lungo termine, come le malattie cardiovascolari, l’osteoporosi e le demenze. «La Giornata Mondiale della Menopausa rappresenta un’importante occasione per sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica su un momento fisiologico della vita femminile – spiega il dr. Ciro Sommella Direttore UOC Ginecologia e Ostetricia dell’Ospedale San Donato di Arezzo –. Noi abbiamo scelto di farlo con un incontro gratuito aperto a tutte le donne durante il quale verranno affrontati diversi temi legati alla menopausa, con l’obiettivo di fornire alle donne informazioni chiare e precise su questo delicato periodo della vita. Sarà un momento di confronto tra professionisti del settore e cittadinanza dove i professionisti saranno a disposizione per fornire informazioni scientifiche e sfatare miti e false leggende sulla menopausa».Insieme al dr. Sommella ci saranno le dr.sse Valeria Barra e Veronica Magnelli, Specialiste in Ginecologia e Ostetricia. L’evento sarà moderato dalla giornalista Maddalena Pieroni. Tutte le donne che parteciperanno all’incontro avranno la possibilità di prenotare una visita ginecologica per consulenza sulla menopausa gratuita presso l’Ospedale San Donato, finalizzata all’inquadramento della menopausa, alla prevenzione e alla eventuale terapia. «Perché partecipare? La menopausa è un processo naturale che comporta una serie di cambiamenti fisici ed emotivi – prosegue il dr. Sommella -. Informarsi e confrontarsi con altri può essere di grande aiuto per affrontare al meglio questo periodo della vita. Con l’allungamento dell’aspettativa di vita, la donna oggi ha la prospettiva di trascorrere in menopausa circa trent’anni: un lungo periodo in cui una corretta informazione, un’attenta prevenzione e un adeguato trattamento dei sintomi possono contribuire a migliorare la qualità della vita limitando l’impatto delle malattie croniche degenerative». Da una indagine condotta da Fondazione Onda ETS su 600 donne tra i 45 e i 55 anni, emerge che la menopausa è un tema in cui l’informazione c’è, ma rimane superficiale e le donne convivono passivamente con i sintomi di questa fase di grande cambiamento. Dall’indagine emerge, inoltre, che il 56% delle donne ritiene di avere un livello di informazione medio-alto rispetto al tema della menopausa e le informazioni sono principalmente raccolte attraverso esperienze di amiche e familiari (74%), consultazione di siti internet di informazione (62%) e dialogo con figure professionali (ginecologo 65% e MMG 39%). La menopausa è vissuta come portatrice di grandi cambiamenti per il 73% delle intervistate e i sintomi più frequenti associati riguardano i disturbi del sonno (76%), vampate di calore o sudorazione eccessiva (73%) e stanchezza (73%). Inoltre, circa la metà delle donne non assume alcun rimedio per prevenire o far fronte alla sintomatologia, ritenendola sopportabile oppure considerando la menopausa come una normale fase della vita che non richiede trattamenti particolari.
