Il Club Alpino Italiano esprime profondo cordoglio per la scomparsa di Fulco Pratesi, avvenuta il 1º marzo 2025 a Roma all’età di 90 anni. Architetto, giornalista e illustratore, Pratesi è stato il fondatore del WWF Italia nel 1966, dedicando la sua vita alla tutela dell’ambiente e della biodiversità nel nostro Paese. “Ci lascia una figura fondamentale dell’attivismo ambientalista italiano che ha trasmesso a generazioni i valori di rispetto della natura, contribuendo a mettere queste tematiche all’attenzione dell’agenda politica. Il mio pensiero va agli amici della grande famiglia del WWF”, ha commentato il Presidente generale del Cai Antonio Montani. Fulco Pratesi ha svolto un ruolo cruciale nella creazione di oltre 100 Oasi del WWF in Italia, pari a circa 27.000 ettari di natura, trasformando aree destinate alla caccia in riserve naturali protette. Fondamentale è stato anche il suo contributo alla nascita del sistema dei Parchi nazionali, attraverso studi, piani e la spinta all’approvazione della legge quadro sulle aree protette del 1991.La sua visione e il suo impegno hanno portato alla salvaguardia di habitat fondamentali per numerose specie animali e vegetali
