Giunto a termine del terzo mandato – Secondi: “un grande presidente sempre vicino ai territori, ai giovani e al mondo della scuola”. Il sindaco, Luca Secondi, ha ricevuto il presidente del Coni regionale Umbria, Domenico Ignozza, giunto a termine del terzo mandato e del quadriennio olimpico 2021/2024
Nel corso del cordiale incontro presso la residenza municipale il primo cittadino tifernate ha ringraziato il generale Ignozza e con lui tutto il consiglio uscente del Coni e le federazioni sportive per il grande lavoro svolto al servizio delle comunità locali e i praticanti delle numerose discipline presenti sul territorio. “I risultati e la qualità del mandato svolto per decenni alla guida del Coni provinciale e regionale sono la dimostrazione del riconoscimento per l’impegno e la dedizione con cui Domenico Ignozza ha svolto, in maniera impeccabile il ruolo di presidente. Da sempre ha dimostrato una particolare attenzione per i giovani e per il mondo della scuola, cercando di promuovere iniziative mirate per lo sviluppo dello sport. Nel corso di oltre trenta anni al vertice del Coni provinciale e regionale e degli ultimi tre mandati consecutivi ha inoltre intensificato i rapporti con le istituzioni a tutti i livelli, comuni in testa, spronandoci a progettare una impiantistica moderna e a portata di tutti indicando proprio nello sport, un fattore di crescita sociale diffusa e solidale”, ha concluso il sindaco Luca Secondi nel ricordare la vicinanza del presidente Ignozza nei momenti difficili della pandemia caratterizzati da provvedimenti di chiusura degli impianti e riduzione dell’attività sportiva a vari livelli, agonistici e non: “lui c’è sempre stato”. Prima dei saluti e della consegna di un opera artigianale sulla storia della città il sindaco ha ricordato la vocazione sportiva di Città di Castello, dove dati alla mano, un tifernate su tre scende in campo, in palestra, per strada o in acqua, Città di Castello ha consolidato anche nel 2024 un primato inedito di una comunità appassionata di sport con 14mila praticanti impegnati a livello agonistico o amatoriale in una delle circa 40 discipline fruibili nel territorio attraverso oltre 100 società. Nel ringraziare il sindaco Secondi, gli assessori allo sport degli ultimi decenni, Massimo Massetti e Riccardo Carletti, per la proficua e costante sinergica collaborazione, il Presidente del Coni regionale Umbria, Ignozza, ha dichiarato “di aver sempre trovato a Città di Castello ed in altotevere, terreno “fertile” per progettare manifestazioni e attività sportive in ogni ambito e di portare con se ricordi umani e professionali davvero straordinari”.
