Giornata Mondiale Autismo, il Centro del Pionta apre le porte alla città

Il 2 aprile il Centro autismo è aperto dalle 9 alle 17 per far conoscere attività e laboratori e sensibilizzare sul tema del disturbo dello spettro autistico

Nella giornata Giornata mondiale della consapevolezza sull’autismo il Centro Autismo di Arezzo apre le porte alla cittadinanza. La struttura, che si trova al piano terra della palazzina della Ufsmia, all’interno del parco del Pionta, il 2 aprile sarà aperta dalle 9 alle 17: obiettivo è sensibilizzare le persone su questa tematica e far conoscere il progetto attraverso laboratori abilitativi e riabilitativi degli operatori Asl Toscana Sud Est in collaborazione con Progetto 5. All’interno del Centro, opera l’équipe della cooperativa Progetto 5, composta da sei educatori e da uno psicoterapeuta cognitivo comportamentale, responsabile della supervisione dei percorsi comportamentali individualizzati rivolti a bambini e adulti. Operatori che lavorano a stretto contatto con psicologi, logopedisti e neuropsichiatri dell’Unità funzionale salute mentale infanzia e adolescenza (Ufsmia) e con la psichiatria dell’Unità salute mentale adulti (Ufsma). Le attività proposte all’interno del Centro sono finalizzate ad abilitare quelle aree di sviluppo maggiormente deficitarie e al potenziamento delle abilità emergenti, così da migliorare le performance comunicative, sociali e di autonomia, di cura di sé e dell’ambiente.

«Abbiamo voluto aprire le porte alla cittadinanza per far conoscere il progetto e le attività che vi svolgiamo» spiegano la dr.ssa Maria Grazia Piergiovanni, neuropsichiatra infantile, e il dr. Luciano Luccherino, direttore UO neuropsichiatria infantile Ufsmia Asl Toscana Sud Est.

«Gli interventi all’interno del Centro vengono svolti sia individualmente con bambini e ragazzi, sia su gruppi selezionati per età e per livello di funzionamento – aggiungono Piergiovanni e Luccherino -. L’obiettivo degli interventi psicoeducativi è permettere ai nostri pazienti di apprendere abilità utili a migliorare la propria vita e di chi gli sta accanto. Ad esempio, ai bambini che non riescono ad esprimersi con le parole, vengono forniti gli strumenti per comunicare i propri bisogni, come fame sete o anche dolore, attraverso l’uso di immagini, tablet e tutti quei sistemi di comunicazione alternativi utili a questa funzione. Ai genitori, invece, insegniamo a gestire le abilità dei propri figli».

«Con gli adulti, ragazzi fra i 20- 25, invece, si lavora sulle autonomie di cura di sé e dell’ambiente insegnando a preparare piccole merende, rifare il letto, apparecchiare la tavola, incrementare le abilità sociali (fare amicizia, imparare a conversare, condividere interessi) anche attraverso attività esperenziali al di fuori dei locali come andare al bar, fare la spesa – spiega la dr.ssa Lorenza Chiozzi, psicologa e psicoterapeuta di Progetto 5 -. Mensilmente è prevista un’equipe di aggiornamento nella quale gli operatori si confrontano su obiettivi e strategie più consone per raggiungerli. Infine sono previsti anche incontri di aggiornamento con i genitori, finalizzati a condividere con loro sia strategie di insegnamento che di gestione di eventuali comportamenti problematici».
