ROMAGNA – Il Centro di Trapianto di Microbiota (FMT) dell’Ausl Romagna ha raggiunto un importante traguardo con il primo trapianto di microbiota eseguito all’ospedale Bufalini di Cesena dall’unità operativa di Gastroenterologia ed Endoscopia Digestiva Forlì Cesena, diretta dal prof. Carlo Fabbri.
La procedura è stata eseguita dalla dottoressa Giulia Gibiino, coordinatrice clinica del Centro FMT Ausl Romagna e portata a termine con successo. “Questo primo trapianto – spiega Gibiino – è stato effettuato su una paziente anziana affetta da recidiva persistente di infezione da Clostridioides difficile, che rappresenta l’indicazione raccomandata da linee guida internazionali e promossa dal nostro Centro Nazionale Trapianti. Abbiamo svolto il trapianto in corso di colonscopia in assistenza anestesiologica in regime N.O.R.A. (Non Operating Room Anesthesia) cioè al di fuori della sala operatoria. La paziente è stata dimessa dopo 24 ore in buone condizioni cliniche. Va sottolineato – tiene a precisare la dottoressa – che l’intervento è stato possibile grazie al personale infermieristico, l’equipe di anestesia, i colleghi delle malattie infettive di Forlì e Cesena, il reparto di gastroenterologia e la preziosa collaborazione della Banca FMT disposta a Pievesestina e diretta dal Prof. Sambri con la collazione della Prof.ssa Cricca e di tutto il team di medici microbiologi coinvolti in questo progetto. In tutte e 3 i Centri FMT della Romagna prosegue nel frattempo il percorso di screening dei donatori così da consentire una maggiore diffusione di questa procedura nei casi recidivanti da Clostridioides difficile e in tutte le altre indicazioni emergenti all’interno di progetti di studio e trials clinici”.

Il trapianto di microbiota fecale prevede una procedura attraverso cui si raccolgono le feci da un donatore sano, per poterle processare in maniera opportuna ed arrivare all’estrazione di microbiota intestinale da trapiantare, successivamente, ad un ricevente malato. A oggi la pratica è approvata e raccomandata dalle linee guida per il trattamento di infezioni recidivanti da Clostridioides difficile.
