Un vero festival per gli atleti del Burundi la 52^ ed. della Scalata al Castello di Arezzo contrassegnata dai successi di Elvanie Nimbona sui 5 km e la grande sorpresa con Therence Bukuru nei 10 km, gara maschile. Tecnicamente le due gare hanno offerto un grande spettacolo di emozioni con l’arrivo prima della gara femminile dove in quattro si son giocate la vittoria all’ultimo giro in una sorta di sfida italo-burundiana tra le due azzurre Sofiia Yaremchuk e Valentina Gemetto contro Elvanie Nimbona e Micheline Nihomahoro e in quella maschile dove il super favorito Haile Telahun Bekele (Eth) è stato battuto da Therence Bizoza con un allungo finale da mille cinquecentista. Nella gara femminile la campionessa italiana dei 10 km su strada Valentina Gemetto proprio ad Arezzo l’ottobre scorso, ci ha provato sino alla fine, ma quattro mesi di inattività per infortunio le sono stati nemici per essere al top, sicuramente come prima gara il responso depone tutto a suo favore. Bene anche Sofiia Yaremchuk la primatista italiana della mezza e maratona ha colto il suo personale sui 5 km con 15’57” (prec. 16’15” nel 2019 ancora da ucraina) . Delle altre azzurre da segnalare per le nostre Fracassini, Settino, e Giulia Giorgi il nuovo primato personale nei 5 km su strada. Da segnalare che Gemetto e Yaremchuk si collocano al 4° e 5° posto della lista stagionale italiana, uniche insieme alla Battocletti, Majori e Del Buono ad aver corso sotto i 16 minuti.

Gara maschile invece molto tattica nei primi 7 giri dei 12 in programma dove tutti a controllare il super favorito Haile Telahun Bekele che invece è stato un po’ la delusione della serata, dopo che in anteprima alla  gara, le sue intenzioni erano quelle di migliorare il record della corsa di 27’40 datato 2022, ed invece ci ha pensato Therence Bizoza con un allungo a quattro giri dalla conclusione, poi ripreso da Bekele al penultimo giro, a quel punto tutti a pensare che l’etiope avesse solo atteso il finale per sferrare l’attacco decisivo. Invece in fondo a Corso Roma sbucava da solo Therence Bizoza imponendosi con grande autorità e  limando il suo personale sui 5 km di ben 47 secondi, precedente. 29’06” proprio ad Arezzo nel 2024 quando arrivo secondo. Dei nostri azzurri si migliora di tre secondi Yohannes Chiappinelli nei rispetto al personale stagionale, migliora il suo stagionale anche Pasquale Selvarolo di un minuto e 23 secondi a soli 9 secondi dal personale. In anteprima alle gare in circuito, la gara in linea di 10 km con una doppietta tutta dell’U.P. Policiano Arezzo Atletica società organizzatrice della Scalata con i successi di Michele Pastorini e Giuglia Sadocchi, ora la società da l’invito a tutti per domenica 26 Ottobre per la Maratonina Città di Arezzo.

Diversamente dalle passate edizioni non essendoci un numero cospicuo di atlete e atleti l’UP.P Policiano Arezzo Atletica guidata da Fabio Sinatti ha pensato che era meglio fare una partenza unica. Comunque molto spettacolare anche questa scelta in pratica 6 giri per le donne e 12 per gli uomini, la gara femminile ha visto vincitrice la keniana Purity Gitonga (Run2gether) che ha allungato negli ultimi due giri staccando piuttosto nettamente la giovane etiope Hawi Abera Kumsa e la gemella Caroline Gitonga, quarta assoluta la nostra Giovanna Selva che ha messo in fila numerose africane Stessa sinfonia nella gara maschile dopo nove giri con un gruppetto di 6 atleti tra i quali molto attivo il nostro Chiappinelli, negli ultimi giri ha decisamente preso il comando con grande autorità Joseph Kimeli Kimutai il keniano portacolori della Dinamo Sport di Bellaria-Igea Marina, dimostrando che il successo ai Campionati italiani di Cross di quest’anno e il secondo posto del 2023 non erano arrivati per caso. Finale solitario per Kimutai mente alle sue spalle vi è stato un bel duello per le piazze d’onore dove il burundiano Therence Bizoza ha avuto la meglio sul carabiniere Chiappinelli, dei nostri buon settimo posto per Stefano Massimi su Freedom Amaniel e Ademe Cuneo. Il pomeriggio aretino della corsa era iniziato attorno alle 16,30 con le gare giovanili, anzi giovanissimi che si sono sfidati lungo il viale Roma, poi tutti premiati sul palco posto nella piazza Guido Monaco, pomeriggio poi proseguito con la gara sui 10 km del settore amatoriale valevole per il campionato regionale toscano, dove i concorrenti hanno provato quello che sarà il percorso dei Campionati Italiani dei 10 km il prossimo 6 Ottobre. Gara svoltasi su un giro piccolo e due grandi, prima parte tutti in gruppo poi ha decisamente preso il largo Girma Castelli dell’Orecchiella Garfagnana che ha chiuso in 31’50”, precedendo Michele Pastorini (U.P. Policiano Arezzo Atletica) 32’45” e Michele Rossi (Atl. Castello) in 32’54”, tra le donne s’impone Valentina Mattesini idolo di casa dell’U,P. Policiano in 39’10”, precedendo Giulia Sadocchi la sua compagna di club per 33”.
