Nel confronto tra 2012 e 2022 le imprese turistiche crescono di +62 unità. Calano invece gli esercizi al dettaglio e le imprese ambulanti: -18% in centro storico e -16% fuori. Nel comparto commerciale va meglio solo per chi vende servizi e prodotti legati a informatica, telefonia e salute
Arezzo continua a perdere pezzi importanti della sua rete distributiva: in circa dieci anni, nel confronto tra 2012 e 2022, la città ha visto sparire 231 negozi in meno, dei quali 129 in centro storico e il resto nelle altre aree. Di converso, ha visto aumentare – sebbene lievemente – le imprese del comparto turistico: strutture ricettive, bar e ristoranti erano 533 nel 2012, nel giugno 2022 sono diventate 595. Un +62 unità che non basta a compensare le perdite del tessuto commerciale, né in termini di occupazione, né di ricchezza prodotta e di servizi alle persone.
A rivelarlo è l’ultimo Osservatorio Confcommercio sulla demografia d’impresa, elaborato con la collaborazione del Centro Studi delle Camere di Commercio “G. Tagliacarne”. Lo studio ha coinvolto 120 città medio-grandi di tutta Italia, compresi tutti i capoluoghi toscani. A livello nazionale, a fronte della crescita delle attività turistiche, emerge una perdita complessiva di oltre 99mila attività di commercio al dettaglio e 16mila imprese di commercio ambulante nei comuni presi in considerazione.
“La tendenza registrata ad Arezzo è grosso modo in linea con quella delle altre città toscane e italiane – fa notare il direttore di Confcommercio Toscana Franco Marinoni – il commercio arretra mentre avanzano le attività legate al turismo. Si va incontro ad un cambiamento sempre più marcato della rete distributiva urbana, se non si interviene con dei correttivi: meno negozi utili ai residenti, più attività pensate per il tempo libero e il turista. Il rischio è la desertificazione commerciale, che lascerebbe interi quartieri poveri di luci, presidio e servizi importanti”.
A risentire di più della crisi sono i negozi di beni tradizionali come abbigliamento e calzature, libri e giocattoli, arredamento, poi ferramenta e imprese ambulanti. La situazione è invece migliore per chi vende servizi e prodotti legati a informatica, telefonia e salute (farmacie e parafarmacie), uniche voci a crescere nel commercio al dettaglio. “Questo trend è destinato a durare – prosegue Marinoni – in una economia in crisi e che persegue la sostenibilità, le persone acquistano meno prodotti per eliminare gli sprechi e ridurre la spesa, ma cercano più servizi, magari personalizzati. Per fare un esempio: nella moda si acquistano forse meno abiti nuovi, ma si tende al riuso e al riciclo affidandosi a servizi di sartoria creativa”.
La ricerca di benessere e divertimento nei viaggi, invece, resiste. “Ecco spiegate le buone performance del turismo. Arezzo poi è riuscita a ritagliarsi una fetta sempre più ampia di estimatori e questo ha fatto ovviamente crescere gli investimenti nel comparto – sottolinea il direttore aggiunto della Confcommercio di Firenze e Arezzo Catiuscia Fei. “Se non ci fosse stato il brusco stop della pandemia, forse i numeri delle imprese turistiche sarebbero stati ancora più brillanti: rispetto al 2019, nel 2022 ci sono alcune unità in meno, ma possiamo parlare di una tenuta sostanziale in una curva di crescita che resta ascendente per bar, ristoranti e strutture ricettive”.
“La sfida adesso è non permettere che il commercio perda altri pezzi, ci rimetterebbero vivibilità e funzionalità della città – prosegue Catiuscia Fei – servono progetti integrati di rivitalizzazione e rigenerazione urbana nelle aree più a rischio, progetti che vedano insieme privati, associazioni e amministrazione pubblica. Di sicuro la tecnologia può darci una mano, migliorando i servizi e il dialogo con i consumatori: è importante che gli imprenditori puntino su social, ecommerce ed App per farsi conoscere e vendere di più e meglio anche quando mancano residenti vicini. L’online deve diventare un alleato del negozio fisico, non più un nemico. Ma sono processi che vanno accompagnati, perché non tutte le imprese hanno le risorse e le competenze per affrontarli da sole”.
