Torrita di Siena 19.03.2023 – È la Contrada Porta a Sole la vincitrice della 66esima edizione del Palio dei Somari di Torrita di Siena. Il fantino Mirko Ciancagli sigla il suo terzo successo in carriera, dopo le vittorie ottenute nel 2009 e nel 2011 per la Contrada Porta Gavina. Nel campo di gara allestito presso il Gioco del Pallone, nella fase di qualificazione della Corsa si sono sfidate dapprima Cavone e Porta a Pago, poi Porta a Sole e Porta Gavina, quindi Porta Nova e Refenero, infine Le Fonti e Stazione. Le quattro risultate vincitrici da queste batterie sono state le Contrade Porta a Pago, con il fantino Alessandro Stampigioni “Scheggia”, Porta a Sole con Mirko Ciancagli “Baturlo”, Porta Nova con Alessandro Guerrini “Cobra”, Le Fonti con Thomas Ferretti “Brigante”. La batteria di recupero è stata quindi disputata tra Cavone, con il fantino Jonathan Guerri “Rafia”, Porta Gavina con Simone Giannettoni “Baccano”, Refenero con Alessio Deriu “Pampero”, Stazione con Matteo Noli “Galletto”, che è arrivato per primo al traguardo accedendo così all’ultima parte della gara. La finale è stata combattuta soprattutto da Stazione, Porta Nova e Porta a Sole, la quale è riuscita a compiere per prima i quattro giri del campo di gara. Subito è esplosa la gioia dei contradaioli giallo-blu che, conquistando il drappo dipinto dalla senese Monica Minucci, festeggiano dopo 13 anni la loro quinta vittoria. Nel resto del pomeriggio sono stati assegnati i premi agli Sbandieratori e ai Tamburini che si sono classificati primi nella gara a coppie di sabato 18 marzo. Ad aggiudicarsi entrambi i riconoscimenti sono stati, per la Contrada Le Fonti, gli Sbandieratori Tommaso Cozzi e Nicola Nigi e i Tamburini Mattia Ambrosino e Leonardo Bucci. Alla Contrada Stazione è andato il premio Sfoggiato, per il miglior corteo storico.
