GRUPPO MUSICI GIOSTRA DEL SARACINO Il Gruppo Musici della Giostra del Saracino, già presente sin dalle prime edizioni degli anni Trenta e nel periodo postbellico, dopo l’interruzione degli anni 1941-1947 con il nome di “Gruppo San Donato”, si costituì in forma autonoma nel 1955 grazie alla caparbia e brillante idea di William Monci, musicista aretino appassionato di Giostra. La sua personalità, forte e decisa, caratterizza ancora oggi il Gruppo. Idealmente, egli è ancora al comando dei Musici: sul labaro, lo stendardo che precede la formazione, è infatti impresso il suo nome.
Negli anni il Gruppo è cresciuto, sia dal punto di vista numerico che qualitativo, ed ha saputo farsi apprezzare in Italia e all’estero nelle manifestazioni a cui ha partecipato.
Cariche Sociali – Responsabili Il Presidente del Gruppo, dal maggio 2021 è Mauro Nappini, Lorenzo De Robertis è il suo Vice.
Nel corso dell’anno la preparazione musicale del Gruppo è affidata al Maestro Marco Maestri.

GIOSTRA DEL SARACINO 17 giugno 2023 Per l’edizione della Giostra del 17 giugno il Capogruppo, ovvero colui che è direttamente responsabile della parte coreografica e musicale (contraddistinto da un diverso costume e copricapo), è la chiarina Marco Memonti, coadiuvato dal capotamburino Davide Pericoli.
Memonti è da considerarsi un veterano della Piazza e con questa edizione raggiunge la sesta presenza quale Capogruppo (la prima fu a giugno del 2011).
Figlio d’arte, in quanto anche il Padre ha fatto parte del Gruppo, Marco è un grande appassionato di Giostra ed è sempre attento alle disposizioni coreografiche del Gruppo.
MUSICHE
- Corteo storico: vengono eseguiti vari brani del repertorio storico del Gruppo senza alcuna variazione sostanziale rispetto alla tradizione consolidata.
- Ingresso nella Lizza di Piazza Grande: ricalcherà dal punto di vista musicale la tradizione più assoluta.
In Piazza Grande, subito dopo l’annuncio dell’ingresso, viene eseguita la “Sigla Pietri”. Il Gruppo parte sul passo svelto ed esegue il “Passo due”. Da notare ed apprezzare il caratteristico cambio di passo, da veloce a lento, che tutto il Gruppo esegue all’unisono sulla Lizza.
È il segnale che sta per essere suonata la “Marcia della Giostra”, più comunemente conosciuta come “Il Monci”, essendo un pezzo scritto dal fondatore del Gruppo e ormai entrato nella mente e nel cuore di tutti gli aretini. La “Marcia della Giostra” è un brano molto difficile da eseguire sia per le chiarine sia per i tamburi, i quali devono eseguire ben sessantatré battute di tamburo. Al termine dell’esecuzione il Gruppo prende il proprio posto a lato della Lizza ed accompagna l’entrata in Campo dei Quartieri e degli altri figuranti. L’ ingresso in Piazza del Glorioso Gonfalone del Comune di Arezzo e della Lancia d’Oro viene accompagnato dal brano “Marcia”. Emozionante e partecipato infine è il momento dell’esecuzione di “Terra d’Arezzo”, brano scritto da Alberto Severi e musicato da Giuseppe Pietri. Quale curiosità musicale è il fatto che in Piazza Grande non viene eseguita la versione integrale, ma solo la melodia della strofa e due volte il ritornello.

Una piccola variazione sarà possibile notarla nella disposizione dei tamburini: essi saranno infatti disposti a forma di freccia
In occasione della Giostra di Giugno il Gruppo entrerà in Piazza Grande con ben 43 elementi.

Il Gruppo Musici conta al momento 180 soci, fra attivi e sostenitori. Il Gruppo Musici è iscritto al registro regionale delle aziende di promozione sociale. Il Gruppo Musici prova e si allena durante tutto l’anno per due volte alla settimana, il martedì e il giovedì, dalle 21 alle 22 presso la palestra ex-inadel di via Leone Leoni. Nel periodo estivo le prove si spostano nei giardini del Prato. L’attività è incrementata a giugno e a settembre in preparazione alla Giostra del Saracino. Sono oramai diversi anni che il Gruppo Musici ha sede in Piazzetta del Praticino. Una sede prestigiosa, in un immobile di proprietà della Città di Arezzo, che nel corso del tempo il Gruppo ha valorizzato effettuando notevoli lavori di manutenzione e migliorie
