“La Regione Toscana, ad oggi, dedica alle cure pediatriche un solo articolo di legge e lo fa nell’attribuire al Meyer una posizione di rilievo per assicurare una riorganizzazione e un coordinamento operativo della rete pediatrica toscana che, però, di fatto non ha mai avuto riconosciuta la propria dignità organizzativa essendo ancora in sospeso il disegno completo.
Nel 2007, infatti, la Regione prese l’impegno di definire – con una successiva delibera – tutto il sistema pediatrico regionale, ma da allora il percorso si è fermato. Uno stop che manifesta una carenza che va colmata: da qui nasce la raccolta firme che dal “basso” stimola la Regione a fare ciò che da anni famiglie, medici e soprattutto bambini si aspettano. Negli anni grazie al Meyer e anche all’impegno dei nostri professionisti – e colgo l’occasione per ringraziare il personale sanitario del San Donato – il livello di attenzione e di prestazioni è molto aumentato e con esso le professionalità, così come si sono costruite alleanze tra presidi ospedalieri e professionisti; ma senza una risposta di sistema non c’è la possibilità di alzare davvero l’asticella nel segmento forse più delicato della sanità, cioè quello che si occupa dei bambini. Dopo quasi venti anni invece manca il completamento della norma di riferimento e le conseguenti specifiche risorse che certo non possono essere sostituite da buone collaborazioni. La sanità pediatrica toscana oggi si presenta come una realtà decapitata o peggio ancora come uno dei fanalini di coda del sistema sanitario regionale facendo di fatto fallire l’obiettivo che era nelle intenzioni e che è un diritto e cioè quello di garantire un’assistenza territoriale funzionante, ben integrata e sinergica capace di essere e fare rete dando risposte di prossimità. Una carenza che pesa sulle famiglie e sulla quale le stesse hanno voluto accendere una giusta luce di attenzione. Una petizione è certamente una sconfitta ma si può rimediare dando subito la risposta che si attende da 17 anni: per ora io ci ho messo la firma”.
