Il grido disperato di Antonello Contena: “O iniziamo a contenere i lupi, oppure molte aziende, compresa la mia, chiuderanno nel giro di qualche mese!”È questo l’appello di Antonello Contena, allevatore di pecore che, insieme al fratello, alleva 890 pecore in Località Granaione nel Comune di Campagnatico (GR).
II15 Giugno 2024, tra le ore 8:30 e le ore 9:50 del mattino, l’ultimo attacco dei lupi ha colpito il suo gregge. Questa volta sono stati una pecora in lattazione e un montone a subirne le conseguenze. Entrambi gli animali, grazie alla prontezza dei cani da guardiania che hanno scacciato i lupi, hanno riportato “solamente” ferite da morsi.
La pecora presenta ferite abbastanza profonde e questa mattina non aveva più latte. Il montone ha riportato ferite apparentemente meno gravi, ma ha un grande rigonfiamento sotto al mento che non fa ben sperare. Purtroppo, quest’ultimo ha iniziato a comportarsi in modo anomalo, isolandosi dal gregge, il che non lascia presagire nulla di buono riguardo alla sua sorte.
Due settimane fa, Antonello Contena e il suo gregge hanno subito un altro attacco dei lupi, che ha provocato il ferimento di una pecora. Lo stress post-traumatico è stato così forte per quest’animale che, mentre le ferite del corpo guarivano, quelle della mente peggioravano inesorabilmente, rendendone necessario l’abbattimento.
Ad ogni attacco, le pecore vittime spesso perdono il senno, e anche la salute mentale del pastore ne risente gravemente. Quest’ultimo aspetto è stato trattato nel 2022 nello studio “Face aux loups” – in italiano “Di fronte ai lupi” – dove i due studiosi francesi del laboratorio Agir (Agroecologies, Innovations, Ruralities) presso il centro Inrae (Institut National de Recherche pour l’Agriculture, l’Alimentation et l’Environnement) Occitanie-Toulouse, Antoine Doré, ricercatore di sociologia, e Frédéric Nicolas, borsista post-dottorando in sociologia, spiegano come “tra gli effetti dichiarati della presenza dei lupi domina l’ansia” e come “la presenza dei predatori si manifesta spesso come un’esperienza traumatica, personale, persino intima”. “Gli agricoltori o i pastori che subiscono i primi attacchi sono sopraffatti da una sensazione di solitudine di fronte a questa minaccia”.
Il Comitato Resistenza Pastorale è ben conscio della situazione psicologica in cui versano i pastori e le loro famiglie: non ci si abitua mai alle predazioni dei lupi e la paura e l’ansia da essi generata non passano mai e non vengono di certo risarcite.
Antonello Contena si è rivolto al Comitato Resistenza Pastorale, mettendo in luce, nuovamente, l’amara verità: anche lui, come molti altri pastori e allevatori, si vedrà costretto a chiudere la sua azienda se non verranno prese misure di contenimento nei confronti dei lupi nel breve periodo.
Il Comitato Resistenza Pastorale chiede, per l’ennesima volta, a gran voce alle istituzioni, alla Regione Toscana e alla Vicepresidente Stefania Saccardi, di mettere in atto le deroghe già esistenti per il contenimento dei lupi. Queste deroghe possono aiutare concretamente i pastori e gli allevatori a continuare il loro lavoro con dignità. Un lavoro fatto di sacrifici e rinunce, ma al quale ogni pastore è profondamente legato.
Il Comitato Resistenza Pastorale ascolta e abbraccia il disperato grido di aiuto di Antonello Contena e di suo fratello, così come di tutti gli allevatori, nella speranza che venga ascoltato anche da chi potrebbe fare la differenza in questo gioco di distruzione e morte.
