AREZZO – Mercoledì 4 marzo, alle ore 16, le esequie nel cimitero di Puglia. Assieme alla moglie Gabriella Vagheggi, era uno dei più autorevoli testimoni del “cenacolo” di Villa Guillichini a Tregozzano Martedì 4 marzo 2025 si è spento ad Arezzo,dopo una lunga malattia, Gianfranco Dondi, pittore e scultore nato a Firenze il 25 maggio 1927.
Fondamentali le sue collaborazioni con il pittore, scultore, incisore e musicologo spagnolo Abel Vallmitjana, considerato una delle figure artistiche più importanti e influenti tra quelle vissute ad Arezzo nel secondo Novecento. Tra la metà degli anni Cinquanta e la prima metà degli anni Settanta Vallmitjana dette vita al “cenacolo” di Villa Guillichini a Tregozzano, frequentato da intellettuali, artisti e mostri sacri della letteratura come Pablo Neruda, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Miguel Angel Asturias Rosales, Rafael Alberti, Jorge Guillen e Salvador de Madariaga. A Villa Guillichini Vallmitjana inaugurò anche un laboratorio di arti grafiche dove lavorò come assistente Gabriella Vagheggi, moglie di Dondi e attuale presidente del “Comitato Vallmitjana e gli altri”. L’anno dopo la morte dell’artista spagnolo, avvenuta nel 1974, i due coniugi dettero vita alla stamperia d’arte “Il Borgo”, punto di riferimento di tanti artisti per i decenni a seguire e naturale prosecuzione del laboratorio di Vallmitjana. Uomo colto e ironico, amante dei viaggi, dagli anni Novanta Gianfranco Dondi iniziò a realizzare installazioni esterne accumulando oggetti come biciclette, sci, giocattoli e altro in forma piramidale e realizzando originali figure con tubi, plastica e materiali di recupero. Artista di valore, pienamente inserito nel clima del “cenacolo” di Villa Guillichini, Dondi ne è stato prezioso custode insieme alla consorte fino ai giorni nostri. La camera ardente sarà allestita a partire da martedì pomeriggio alla Croce Bianca di Arezzo. Le esequie si terranno mercoledì 5 marzo, alle ore 16, nel cimitero di Puglia. Nel ricordo di una figura artistica e umana di grande spessore, il “Comitato Vallmitjana e gli altri” si stringe con sincero affetto alla sua presidente Gabriella Vagheggi.
