A settembre il Conte di Cagliostro ha fatto “visita” a Città di Castello con una sezione, a lui dedicata, all’interno della Mostra Nazionale del Libro e della Stampa Antica; ad ottobre è stato l’ing. Giovanni Cangi, che insieme al gruppo di lavoro da lui coordinato, ha presentato i lavori di riqualificazione della Fortezza di San Leo di Rimini, oggi adibita a importante sede museale, dove era stato imprigionato a vita Giuseppe Balsamo “Cagliostro” avventuriero del XVIII secolo. L’intervento, promosso e seguito dai Musei Nazionale di Bologna – Direzione Regionale Musei Nazionali Emilia-Romagna, è stato realizzato grazie ad un finanziamento di 500.000,00 euro, messo a disposizione dal Ministero della Cultura, e ha avuto come obiettivo la riduzione della vulnerabilità sismica e l’aumento della sicurezza strutturale, nel rispetto del valore storico e della funzione museale della Fortezza.
Il percorso è partito alla fine del 2022 con una dettagliata verifica della struttura e con la redazione della relazione geologica, che hanno portato al progettazione di opere prevalentemente strutturali finalizzate alla sicurezza, ma anche alla tutela e alla valorizzazione dello straordinario complesso architettonico, testimone secolare di eventi storici, politici e naturali. L’equipe tifernate, rappresentata da Cangi e formata dall’arch. Linda Pettinelli, dagli ingg. Camillo Antoniucci, Alessandro Petrani, Luca Fontanelli e dal geol. Alessandro Ricciardi, con i collaboratori ingg. Daniele Pierini e Gianluca Finocchi, si è dunque occupata della progettazione ed ha quindi seguito l’esecuzione dei lavori affidate alle imprese, anche queste di Città di Castello, C.E.S.A. conservazione beni culturali, diretta dall’arch Nicola Falcini, con la collaborazione di La. Fe. di Marinelli con le opere di carpenteria metallica; la ditta Corazzini di Novafeltria si è invece occupata degli impianti elettrici. Per le indagini ed i saggi preliminari hanno contibuito le ditte EMMEDUE di Mearelli e Montanucci, sempre tifernate, e MEMO TESTING srl di Parma. Il Torrione Maggiore ha ospitato la presentazione pubblica degli interventi effettuati con i saluti istituzionali di Costantino D’Orazio, Direttore ad interim del Musei Nazionali di Bologna, Federica Gonzato Soprintendente Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio per le Province di Ravenna, Fori-Cesena e Rimini e Leonardo Bindi Sindaco di San Leo, che hanno espresso vivo apprezzamento per i risultati ottenuti dall’intero gruppo di lavoro e per la collaborazione tra il MiC e ed il Comune. Ha presso quindi la parola Elena Rossoni, Direttrice della Fortezza, che ha sottolineato l’approccio sostenibile e conservativo, nel rispetto del criterio del minimo intervento utile, il mantenimento delle strutture storiche, il recupero dei materiali esistenti, le soluzioni a bassa manutenzione e la prospettiva rivolta al futuro della Fortezza come polo culturale e turistico di riferimento. Ha evidenziato l’importanza di organizzare il cantiere in modo da mantenere attiva la fruizione delle aree museali, che sono state interdette solo puntualmente secondo necessità, riducendo al minimo i disagi per il pubblico; un risultato reso possibile grazie alla collaborazione di tutti i soggetti in costante dialogo durante tutte le fasi del progetto. Giovanni Cangi, referente del gruppo di professionisti incaricato, ha quindi illustrato l’iter progettuale seguito che ha preso spunto da una visione d’insieme del contesto, considerando le caratteristiche orografiche del sito e quelle costruttive del fabbricato per analizzare sicurezza, funzionalità e accessibilità, con l’obiettivo di un intervento di tipo conservativo, mirato a preservare l’autenticità del bene. Ha infine sottolineato il positivo clima di collaborazione instaurato con il team di progetto ed il fattivo coinvolgimento di esperienze e associazionismo locale, in particolare quello della Pro-Loco.
La Fortezza di San Leo si erge sulla cima di un enorme masso roccioso dal perimetro di circa tre chilometri, con pareti ripide e quasi inaccessibili. Oggi vi si arriva solo tramite una strada che sale dal paese, mentre in passato esistevano sentieri scavati nella roccia ormai impraticabili. Grazie alla sua posizione naturale divenne praticamente inespugnabile e per secoli fu contesa tra le famiglie dei Montefeltro e dei Malatesta. Oltre al suo valore militare è famosa per il misterioso Giuseppe Balsamo, noto come il Conte di Cagliostro, che morì tra le sue mura.
