Giornate del Fai in onore di Elmo Palazzi

Oltre 400 i partecipanti.Botteghi e Reali: “Beni culturali al centro di un interesse crescente di turisti e visitatori”  Sono stati circa 400 i partecipanti alla Giornata d’Autunno di domenica 16 ottobre intitolata “Sulle tracce di Elmo Palazzi a Città di Castello. Omaggio a 151 anni dalla nascita”e organizzata dal Gruppo FAI di Città di Castello in collaborazione con il Comune sulla scia delle celebrazioni per il centocinquantenario con il patrocinio del Comune di Città di Castello e la collaborazione della famiglia Palazzi Pirazzoli. 

“Siamo molto soddisfatti della partecipazione” dichiarano congiuntamente l’assessore alla Cultura Michela Botteghi e la responsabile del Fai locale Eleonora Reali “le giornate del Fai hanno rappresentato un modo di approfondire la visita alla città sia per i turisti che per i tifernati, che in numero crescente si interessano al patrimonio storico artistico e seguono le iniziative di valorizzazione dei beni culturali”.“La scelta di incentrare l’itinerario su Elmo Palazzi è stata particolarmente felice” prosegue l’assessore Botteghi “quando parliamo di Città di Castello pensiamo al Rinascimento e alla Contemporaneità ma anche altre epoche hanno attestazioni insigni sia dal punto di vista artistico che della ricostruzione storica della città. Vicende personaggi con molto da raccontare di noi”. “L’itinerario nel centro storico, guidato dai volontari del FAI tifernate e dagli “Apprendisti Ciceroni” del Liceo Statale “Plinio il Giovane” di Città di Castello, ha preso avvio dalla Casa di Elmo Palazzi, progettata in stile liberty dall’artista stesso, dove è stato possibile aggirarsi nel delizioso giardino ricco di sculture e visitare lo studio con bozzetti e modelli autografi in gesso e terracotta” spiega Eleonora Reali. “La visita è poi proseguita ripercorrendo le tappe principali della carriera di Elmo Palazzi a Città di Castello, dal “Monumento all’XI Settembre 1860”, imponente gruppo bronzeo che celebrava la liberazione risorgimentale della città dal dominio pontificio, alla facciata della Cassa di Risparmio dove campeggia la lunetta con l’“Allegoria della Previdenza”, fino al Palazzo comunale dove si conservano la “Lapide ai Tifernati caduti in Africa” e il monumentale modello in gesso dell’”Allegoria dell’Umbria” con cui Palazzi vinse il concorso nazionale per le statue delle regioni italiane destinate al “Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II” a Roma, incarico più prestigioso di tutta la sua carriera.Il percorso si è concluso fuori dal centro storico con una significativa tappa al Cimitero monumentale di Città di Castello dove è stato possibile ammirare i principali monumenti funebri realizzati da Elmo Palazzi oltre alla tomba dello scultore stesso”. In occasione delle Giornate FAI d’Autunnoi partecipanti all’iniziativa hanno potuto completare idealmente l’itinerario sullo scultore accedendo, con uno speciale biglietto dedicato, alla Pinacoteca comunale di Città di Castello che conserva nella Gipsoteca Elmo Palazzi un cospicuo numero di modelli e calchi in gesso di sua mano. Il Gruppo FAI Città di Castello desidera ringraziare tutti gli intervenuti, tifernati e non, per aver partecipato alla Giornata di Autunno in ricordo di un artista poliedrico e appassionato, la cui importanza storica va ben oltre la dimensione locale.Si ringrazia per la collaborazione: Comune di Città di Castello, famiglia Palazzi Pirazzoli, Liceo Statale “Plinio il Giovane” di Città di Castello, Cooperativa “Il Poliedro”, Croce Rossa Italiana Comitato di Città di Castello.Per restare informati sulle attività del Gruppo FAI di Città di Castello: pagina Facebook/Instagram “Gruppo FAI Città di Castello”, mail cittadicastello@gruppofai.fondoambiente.it.
