Ora non si può più aspettare”. Pino Giordano riferisce che per l’Ugl, “ormai i casi di cinghiali che hanno raggiunto le campagne del Metapontino e centri abitati sono sempre più numerosi. Sino al raduno in branchi di migliaia di capi, siamo all’invasione e al pericolo peggiore perché oltre la pubblica incolumità ci sono problemi igienico-sanitari con fenomeni di diffusione di malattie infettive. I primi ad essere allarmati in quanto subiscono i danni maggiori sono automobilisti, semplici cittadini e agricoltori. L’allarme – prosegue Giordano – non riguarda solo i danni alle aziende agricole ma la stessa incolumità dei cittadini come provano i numerosi ultimi incidenti provocati da cinghiali contro auto in circolazione specie lungo strade delle aree più interne. Come o.s Ugl Matera, ci assumiamo tutta la responsabilità sindacale di quello che diciamo ma ora non si può aspettare più! La competenza è esclusivamente della Regione Basilicata, ci facciamo promotori di chiederne un incontro su tale grave problema dove oggi non si può pensare ad altre iniziative se non quelle di abbattimento. È dramma: c’è necessità di un’ulteriore prevenzione contro la peste suina africana, tenendo conto che i danni causati da cinghiali al settore agricolo rappresentano comunque un’emergenza da tempo e, sicuramente, da molto prima della scoperta di focolai di PSA. Gli Enti preposti diano autorizzazioni e, suggeriamo, la possibilità da parte degli agricoltori possessori di regolare porto darmi di concretizzare azioni di autotutela e di salvaguardia delle colture e del patrimonio fondiario e degli allevamenti; nelle more delle modifiche della legge 157/92 che regola la materia, il governo centrale emani un dispositivo autorizzativo a favore delle Regioni che dia la possibilità alle stesse di dar vita, di concerto con le autorità sanitarie e ambientali, a piani straordinari di gestione degli abbattimenti definendo controlli, utilizzo e smaltimento dei capi abbattuti. È oramai un problema fuori controllo – conclude Giordano – , tra danni milionari ad agricoltura e ambiente, rischio malattie, incidenti stradali sempre più frequenti e minacce alla sicurezza dei cittadini anche nelle aree urbane. Per l’Ugl Matera, le gabbie non servono, ora bisogna solo agire!“.
