IL 21 ottobre 2022, alle ore 17, presso la Biblioteca comunale di Città di Castello, in Palazzo Vitelli a San Giacomo, si terrà la presentazione del volume Leopoldo Franchetti Passioni e progetti nel suo carteggio e nel rapporto con Alice Hallgarten, di cui è autrice Maria Luciana Buseghin; il volume è edito dalla Deputazione di storia patria per l’Umbria, con il sostegno della R:. L:. Armonia 1153 di Città di Castello. Interverranno, oltre al Sindaco Luca Secondi, il Presidente della DSPU Mario Squadroni, Lorenzo Onofri Maestro Venerabile della loggia tifernate e gli storici Sergio Bellezza e Alvaro Tacchini.
Il volume presenta Leopoldo Franchetti, protagonista dell’Italia post-unitaria, nella sua vita pubblica e privata raccontata dopo una approfondita e lunga ricerca sul suo ricchissimo epistolario e su un’immensa mole di documenti reperiti dall’autrice in archivi e biblioteche, specialmente in quelli dell’Associazione nazionale per gli interessi del Mezzogiorno di Roma, da lui fondata nel 1910, e dell’Opera Pia Regina Margherita di Roma – Fondazione Franchetti di Città di Castello 1886-1982. Una specialissima attenzione è stata dedicata alla sua adorata consorte Alice Hallgarten, anch’ella molto attiva nel campo sociale, umanitario e femminista tra Roma, Città di Castello, Francoforte, Londra ed altre capitali europee ed alla quale Maria Luciana Buseghin ha già dedicato due volumi. Il libro è corredato da apparati scientifici di peso: Note, Riferimenti bibliografici e Indice dei nomi, entrambi relativi a testi di e su Leopoldo Franchetti e Alice Hallgarten, e a protagonisti del mondo culturale e politico dell’epoca; straordinaria la pubblicazione di un Album di Ricordi, costituito da foto d’epoca, di cui moltissime inedite, che magicamente ci fanno rivivere quel mondo che grazie a questo volume non sarà completamente perduto. In conclusione, si tratta di un’opera che, per la sua innovatività e completezza, può essere considerata un unicum negli studi su Leopoldo Franchetti.
