E’ Ponte Buriano la location scelta da Netflix per ambientare una importante scena della nuova serie “The Decameron” diretta da Michael Uppendhal (regista di serie come Mad Men, Glee e American Horror Story). La serie è una rivisitazione dell’immortale opera di Giovanni Boccaccio che vede intrecciarsi le vicende di personaggi della Firenze medievale alle prese con la pestilenza che affligge la città.
Per realizzarla la produzione ha cercato alcuni dei luoghi più suggestivi d’Italia tra cui, appunto il ponte medievale di Buriano in provincia di Arezzo che per un giorno sarà un set a cielo aperto.Fondamentale per la riuscita delle riprese la collaborazione con le istituzioni locali. La serie sarà disponibile sulla nota piattaforma streaming nel 2024. Silvia Chiassai Martini, Presidente della Provincia di Arezzo dichiara: “Ringrazio la produzione Netflix per aver scelto la nostra Provincia, quale location per ambientare l’importante opera di Boccaccio. Sono particolarmente orgogliosa che finalmente si possa valorizzare, anche attraverso una pellicola, il monumento di Ponte Buriano e che ancora oggi svolge la funzione di collegamento viario. Anche questa importante scelta da parte di Netflix, conferma la volontà di “mettere a riposo” il Ponte Storico per dargli il valore che nessuno ha mai visto e farlo diventare un monumento medioevale di attrazione turistica. La nostra Provincia per i suoi suggestivi scenari naturali ed ambientali ben si presta come set per le produzioni cinematografiche e serial Tv, un settore che può dare ulteriore impulso all’impegno che sto portando avanti, per la promozione culturale, accanto ai Comuni perche’ produzioni come queste, possano offrire una grande attrattiva turistica”
