Concerto di sabato 11 marzo Bologna, Camera Jazz&Music Club, ore 22:00 David Hazeltine – pianoforte; Aldo Zunino – contrabbasso; Bernd Reiter – batteria Sabato 11 marzo l’edizione 2023 di Crossroads torna al Camera Jazz&Music Club di Bologna. Per questo nuovo passaggio nel capoluogo emiliano-romagnolo, il festival musicale itinerante regionale propone un concerto del trio del pianista David Hazeltine, con Aldo Zunino al contrabbasso e Bernd Reiter alla batteria: un fulgido esempio del miglior jazz mainstream (inizio alle ore 22).
Crossroads 2023 è organizzato da Jazz Network in collaborazione con l’Assessorato alla Cultura della Regione Emilia-Romagna e con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura e di numerose altre istituzioni. Il festival vanta il patrocinio di ANCI Emilia-Romagna e di SIAE. Il concerto è realizzato in collaborazione con il Camera Jazz&Music Club Bologna. Biglietti: prezzo intero euro 20, ridotto 15 (under 30, nuovi soci); affiliazione Endas ingresso riservato ai soci, tessera annuale euro 15.
David Hazeltine è uno dei più apprezzati pianisti della sua generazione, uno dei più puri eredi della tradizione jazzistica di estrazione post-bop. Nato a Milwaukee nel 1958, è appena un adolescente quando fa il suo debutto come professionista. Sino ai primi anni Novanta rimane ‘confinato’ nella zona tra la sua città natale e Chicago. Ma dal momento in cui si trasferisce a New York, nel 1993, il suo nome emerge rapidamente. Si mette in evidenza nei jazz club newyorkesi durante gli anni Novanta, coprendo un vasto spettro stilistico (dallo swing al bop più avanzato). Lo si ascolta assieme ad artisti di spicco: Art Farmer, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Freddie Hubbard, James Moody, Faddis-Hampton-Heat Sextet, Louis Hayes, Eddie Harris, Joe Henderson, Pepper Adams, Jon Hendricks, Marlena Shaw (della quale è anche arrangiatore e direttore musicale) e tanti altri. Suona anche nella big band di Slide Hampton e nella Carnegie Hall Big Band. Contemporaneamente prende il via la sua carriera discografica: dal 1995 i suoi dischi sia da leader che come sideman si susseguono senza sosta, al pari della sua attività concertistica. Le sue incisioni appaiono su etichette che sono un bollino di garanzia per il mainstream del più alto livello: Sharp Nine, Criss Cross, Venus, Chesky, Smoke Sessions. Del massimo rilievo è la sua partecipazione alla formazione all stars One for All, con la quale realizza sedici dischi e appare nei maggiori festival internazionali.
