Pieve Santo Stefano – Dal 1984 Pieve Santo Stefano, quasi al confine tra Toscana, Umbria e Romagna, ha innalzato ai quattro punti cardinali del suo perimetro, sulle strade che vi accedono, un cartello giallo sotto quello della toponomastica ufficiale: “Città del diario“. La cittadina ospita infatti nella sede del municipio, un archivio pubblico, che raccoglie scritti di gente comune in cui si riflette, in varie forme, la vita di tutti e la storia d’Italia: sono diari, epistolari, memorie autobiografiche.
Quarant’anni dopo la fine della guerra, in un’ala di questo edificio, è sorta una casa della memoria: una sede pubblica per conservare scritti di memorie private. L’iniziativa ha attirato l’attenzione di studiosi e giornalisti anche fuori dall’Italia. L’Archivio, ideato e fondato da Saverio Tutino, serve non solo a conservare brani di scrittura popolare: vuole far fruttare in vario modo la ricchezza che in esso viene depositata. Per cominciare abbiamo avuto l’idea di incentivare l’afflusso con un concorso, il Premio Pieve. Abbiamo pubblicato su alcuni giornali un piccolo avviso e in poche settimane sono arrivati più di cento testi e raccolte di lettere. Adesso nella sua sede l’Archivio ne conserva quasi 10.000. Uno di questi è la memoria contadina di Clelia Marchi, scritta su un Lenzuolo matrimoniale. Nel 1991, su iniziativa del Comune di Pieve Santo Stefano, nasce la Fondazione Archivio Diaristico Nazionale, divenuta poi una Onlus e riconosciuta con Decreto Ministeriale il 7/6/2000. Dal settembre 1998 viene pubblicata la rivista Primapersona, una delle molte iniziative editoriali promosse dall’Archivio. Nel 2001 le memorie e i diari dell’Archivio di Pieve incontrano il cinema e nasce l’iniziativa I diari della Sacher.
Nel 2009 il patrimonio documentario dell’Archivio di Pieve Santo Stefano riceve la notifica del Codice dei Beni Culturali dello Stato. Il 7 dicembre 2013 si inaugura il Piccolo museo del diario realizzato dai dotdotdot che traggono ispirazione dal volume “Il paese dei diari” scritto da Mario Perrotta. Il museo è dedicato a Saverio Tutino, scomparso nel 2011.
