CITTA DI CASTELLO – – Le suggestive sale di Palazzo Vitelli a San Giacomo non solo per leggere e prenotare libri ma anche per giocare a scacchi, iniziativa che sta riscuotendo grande successo. “Scacco matto” in biblioteca. Da circa due settimane le suggestive sale della biblioteca “G.Carducci”, ogni mercoledì a partire dalle ore 15,30 ospitano un gruppo di persone che, seguite dall’esperto, Fabio Morini, si incontrano per giocare o per imparare a giocare a a scacchi.
L’iniziativa, benché avviata da poco, sta già riscontrando un notevole succeso: il gruppo iniziale si sta pian piano allargando e sta prendendo piede l’idea di organizzare a breve un torneo di appassionati in sala “Rossi Monti”. Evidentemente la passione per questo gioco antico e complesso non si è mai affievolita, nonostante – o forse proprio per questo – si tratti di un esercizio che richiede tempi lunghi e concentrazione, vale a dire l’opposto di quanto ci viene richiesto dai social in cui tutti siamo immersi. “Tutto ciò ci rende molto felici – precisa Patrizia Montani, responsabile della Biblioteca – perché conferma quanto la biblioteca può fare per favorire l’incontro delle persone e l’associazionismo, e ribadisce ancora una volta la funzione “estesa” di nuova concezione, che non può più essere un luogo riservato esclusivamente ai lettori e agli studiosi, ma sempre più deve diventare un polo culturale capace di attrarre anche chi cerca momenti di incontro, di confronto, di condivisione di passioni comuni. Inoltre, essendo il gioco degli scacchi un linguaggio universale, viene favorito l’incontro tra generazioni e culture diverse: si può giocare insieme anche se non si parla la stessa lingua, o si appartiene a classi d’età non omogenee (una proposta interessante è quella di coinvolgere negli incontri del mercoledì i bambini della primaria che stanno seguendo un percorso di introduzione agli scacchi). E tutto questo – conclude Montani – in una biblioteca che si propone tra i suoi obiettivi principale l’inclusività, non è di secondaria importanza”
