E’ per questo che la capogruppo della Lista Civica Luca Secondi Sindaco, Rosanna Sabba, chiede con una interpellanza al primo cittadino e alla giunta di conoscere “quali iniziative intenda mettere in atto la direzione sanitaria dell’Usl Umbria 1 per una pronta ricostituzione dell’organico medico e per il ripristino della piena funzionalità del servizio di diabetologia” e “se sia intenzione dell’azienda sanitaria e della Regione Umbria di potenziare il servizio nel nostro territorio”. Nel far presente come “il servizio di diabetologia di Città di Castello abbia in carico circa 6.500 pazienti, che in larga parte sono residenti negli otto comuni del distretto Alto Tevere, ma che ad esso afferiscano anche pazienti dei comuni limitrofi umbri, quali Perugia, e delle regioni confinanti, tra cui Apecchio, Sansepolcro, Pieve Santo Stefano”, la rappresentante della maggioranza consiliare segnala che “la riduzione dell’organico medico, con trasferimento da aprile di un medico specialista impegnato a tempo pieno senza contestuale sostituzione, ha creato non poche criticità organizzative ed assistenziali, tanto da costringere il responsabile del servizio ad una rimodulazione degli accessi e alla sospensione di numerose visite programmate”. “Le difficoltà si sono ulteriormente acuite anche a causa del ritardo nella sostituzione di una terza unità part-time, che dall’aprile del 2022 è stata sostituita nel giugno 2023 e per sole 18 ore”, sottolinea Sabba, che richiama l’attenzione sulle “ovvie disfunzioni organizzative, con inevitabile allungamento delle liste di attesa, ritardi diagnostici, lamentele dell’utenza costretta a rivolgersi altrove per le necessità, ritardi nello svolgimento delle consulenze presso i reparti ospedalieri del nosocomio tifernate”. “Anche gli accessi presso il Centro di Salute di Umbertide, da sempre assicurati dall’equipe diabetologica di Città di Castello – riferisce la consigliera – restano sospesi da metà 2022”. Per Sabba “gli elevati costi socio sanitari per la cura delle complicanze croniche del diabete possono essere contenuti solo grazie ad un rete di servizi adeguata, capace di effettuare diagnosi precoci e terapie intensive fin dall’esordio dei primi sintomi”. “Il diabete mellito – osserva Sabba – è una malattia sociale in forte espansione, tanto da interessare in Italia circa 4 milioni di persone, in larga parte adulti affetti dalla forma non insulino-dipendente. E’ il principale fattore di rischio cardiovascolare responsabile delle più comuni patologie cardiache tra cui l’infarto del miocardio, lo scompenso e la patologie vascolari cerebrali acute, ed è anche il più potente fattore di rischio per la patologia renale terminale e la retinopatia che apre le porte alla cecità”.
