Insieme alla Grande Sfinge e alle piramidi, il tempio di Abu Simbel è uno dei capolavori dell’arte egizia più conosciuti al mondo ed è anche il protagonista di un incredibile “miracolo” che si ripete ogni anno.Edificato per onorare il grande faraone Ramses II, tempio è interamente scavato dalla roccia. Per questo la luce non riesce quasi mai a penetrare in fondo al tempio, lasciando le stanze più segrete nell’oscurità.Eppure tutti gli anni, all’alba del 22 febbraio e del 22 ottobre, un raggio di luce riesce incredibilmente ad arrivare in fondo al tempio, portando luce per circa una trentina di minuti. Muovendosi lentamente, il sole illumina 3 delle 4 statue che impreziosiscono l’ultima parete del tempio: la statua che rappresenta il faraone Ramses II deificato e quelle che raffigurano gli dei Ra e Amon Ra.
