AREZZO – Ufficializzate oggi le due nuove intitolazioni Ufficializzate questa mattina le nuove intitolazioni di due aree pubbliche della città, il parco Foro Boario e piazzale Simone Mazzi. L’area verde attrezzata di Pescaiola, da sempre identificata come Foro Boario, da oggi vede ufficializzato il proprio nome con una targa installata nei pressi della fontana.
Una decisione presa a seguito della proposta della commissione toponomastica nel gennaio del 2022 e approvata all’unanimità dalla Giunta comunale nel maggio del 2023. E’ intitolato al vigile del fuoco Simone Mazzi il piazzale a fianco del giardino Elsa Rosi Nofri, prossimo alla caserma di via degli Accolti. Una cerimonia particolarmente sentita, alla presenza dei rappresentati delle autorità civili e militari, dei colleghi guidati dal comandante Roberto Bonfiglio e dei familiari di Simone Mazzi, che ha rappresentato anche l’occasione di ricordare la tragedia in cui il vigile del fuoco perse la vita nello svolgimento del proprio servizio esattamente venti anni fa, sacrificio per il quale gli è stata conferita la Medaglia d’oro al valor civile. L’intitolazione era stata proposta nel 2018 dall’allora consigliere Roberto Bardelli e approvata all’unanimità dal consiglio comunale nel 2019. “Finalmente formalizzata l’intitolazione di un’area storica della città evoluta nel tempo da zona di mercato a luogo di socialità particolarmente vissuto e animato, quale è il parco Foro Boario – ha commentato l’assessore Monica Manneschi, presente ad entrambe le cerimonie -. Con piazzale Simone Mazzi abbiamo inteso dare il giusto riconoscimento ad un vigile del fuoco che ha perso la vita nello svolgimento del proprio servizio: una scelta che contribuirà a tenere doverosamente viva la memoria di Simone”.
