Credo che l’integrazione vera passi dalla condivisione e dalla narrazione delle proprie tradizioni, della propria cultura e della propria identità e sono certa che solo con il dialogo e con l’ascolto si possano costruire comunità inclusive. Chi pensa di integrare annullandosi fa un gravissimo errore. Arezzo è città accogliente e solidale, ma proprio per questo è città che non può nascondere se stessa e anzi è proprio grazie ai richiami che dal presepe arrivano che sapremo essere all’altezza delle sfide difficili che sono sotto gli occhi di tutti. Se fin dai piccolissimi i bambini e le bambine impareranno a rispettare se stessi sapranno di certo mettersi in ascolto degli altri in un mondo che, se è vero che è sempre più globalizzato, è altrettanto vero che non può cedere alla disfatta della nostra cultura e delle nostre tradizioni. Mi piace definire Arezzo come città – comunità: ecco, una comunità è tale prima di tutto se conosce se stessa, come presupposto solido di inclusione e coesione sociale”.
