Un’occasione attesa da cinque anni, il sogno della docenza che finalmente si concretizza, l’offerta di insegnamento di storia e filosofia in un liceo. All’inizio del volume Cecilia si presenta al colloquio con il preside piena di aspettative, ma presto la novella insegnante si renderà conto che tra stare dietro un banco e stare dietro a una cattedra c’è una differenza abissale. Nel libro si osserva il percorso di cambiamento intrapreso dalla protagonista, dall’iniziale paura di essere inadeguata al compito e dalle prime incomprensioni con gli allievi, fino alla gratitudine verso i suoi ragazzi. “Banchi di vita” è un testo agile ma profondo, che ribadisce l’importanza del ruolo dell’insegnante e la sua responsabilità nella crescita e valorizzazione di ogni studente.
L’AUTRICE Cecilia Ricci è nata ad Arezzo nel 1984 e insegna filosofia e storia a Colle di Val d’Elsa. Ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in Scienza del libro e della scrittura all’Università per Stranieri di Perugia, dove ha approfondito il pensiero di George Steiner. È laureata in Filosofia morale all’Università degli Studi di Perugia e ha rivolto i suoi interessi verso il pensiero ebraico del Novecento, con particolare riferimento alla filosofia di Franz Rosenzweig e Emmanuel Lévinas. Nel 2015 ha pubblicato per Mimesis il primo studio monografico in Italia su George Steiner dal titolo “Leggere Babele. George Steiner e la ‘vera presenza’ del senso”.
