Sansepolcro la presentazione del libro di James Banker L’Associazione “Vivere a Borgo Sansepolcro”- Pro loco, in collaborazione con il Comune di Sansepolcro e con il contributo del Rotary Club Sansepolcro e di Ediltevere srl, e il sostegno della Fondazione Casa di Piero della Fracesca, presenta l’ultimo lavoro del prof. James Banker, studioso di Piero della Francesca, dal titolo “La stirpe di Piero della Francesca nel Rinascimento”, tradotto da Barbara Ellena Besi, con foto di Enzo Mattei e edito da Edifir Edizioni Firenze.
La presentazione del volume si svolgerà nella Sala del Consiglio di Palazzo delle Laudi venerdì 29 novembre alle ore 11.00. Banker ha raccolto in questo volume tutti i documenti, editi ed inediti, che dal Trecento, quando i della Francesca cominciano a figurare nella documentazione storica, arrivano sino al 1713 quando muore il Canonico Giovan Battista dei Franceschi ultimo maschio della stirpe. Con questo libro Banker, storico socio-culturale, conclude un lavoro che per quarant’anni lo ha visto studiare e ricercare documenti sulla vita e le opere di Piero della Francesca, sull’ambiente in cui visse, riuscendo a farci conoscere il terreno culturale, sociale ed economico in cui l’Artista si formò e visse. Quarant’anni che James Banker ha trascorso alternando la sua vita negli Stati Uniti con lunghi soggiorni nella nostra città in cui ha preso casa, diventando uno di noi e ottenendo nel 2005 il riconoscimento di cittadino onorario da parte dell’Amministrazione comunale. Con i suoi studi Banker ha saputo costruire una biografia del nostro Artista, rimasta a lungo sconosciuta, grazie a lavori come “Il giovane Piero della Francesca e la cultura della sua terra”, “Piero della Francesca l’artista e l’uomo “, “Documenti fondamentali per la conoscenza della vita e dell’arte di Piero della Francesca”, “Francesco del Borgo la vita e le opere”. Non solo ma ricostruendo la vita di Piero ci ha fatto conoscere la vita e l’evoluzione culturale ed economica della nostra comunità.
