Il Passatore, il cui vero nome era Stefano Pelloni, è stato un noto brigante italiano vissuto nel XIX secolo, tra la fine del 1700 e l’inizio del 1800. Nacque in Romagna, e divenne famoso per le sue attività di banditismo, che lo resero un personaggio leggendario. Il suo soprannome “Passatore” derivava dalla sua abilità nel “passare” inosservato tra le montagne e i boschi.
Durante la sua vita, Pelloni si ribellò contro le autorità e le ingiustizie sociali del suo tempo, vivendo da brigante e spesso ritenuto un simbolo di resistenza contro l’oppressione. La sua figura venne vista da molti come quella di un “Robin Hood” italiano, in quanto, oltre a derubare i ricchi, si diceva che aiutasse anche i poveri, distribuendo parte del bottino tra i bisognosi. Nonostante la sua fama di “bandito generoso”, il Passatore fu anche responsabile di numerosi crimini e violenze, che lo resero una figura controversa.Nel 1831, dopo una serie di fughe e conflitti con le forze di polizia, fu catturato e giustiziato. La sua morte, avvenuta a soli 30 anni, non fece che accrescere la sua leggenda, trasformandolo in un eroe popolare per molti, anche se il suo nome rimane legato sia alla banditismo che alla resistenza contro le ingiustizie sociali dell’epoca.
