Nella periferia di Arezzo, tra Via Turati e la Via Umbro Casentinese, nei pressi della rotonda dello Show Garden, si sta verificando un fenomeno che ha suscitato paura e indignazione tra i residenti: i lupi hanno preso di mira le colonie feline della zona, causando non poche tensioni.
Ogni notte, gli abitanti si trovano a convivere con la presenza dei lupi, che si aggirano intorno alle abitazioni alla ricerca di gatti da predare. Una situazione che ha creato un clima di preoccupazione, ma anche di rabbia. Chi si prende cura da anni dei gatti della zona, nutrendoli e sterilizzandoli, non accetta di vedere questi animali cadere vittime dei predatori. Un residente ha condiviso con noi dei video inquietanti che mostrano i lupi in azione: in una di queste riprese, si vede chiaramente uno di loro allontanarsi con un gatto tra le fauci.
Una scena che ha colpito profondamente la comunità, generando un acceso dibattito sulla
non-gestione dei lupi e sulla tutela degli animali domestici. Sorprende il silenzio delle associazioni animaliste, generalmente molto attive nella difesa delle colonie feline e nella raccolta di fondi per la loro tutela. In questa vicenda, invece, sembrano essersi tirate indietro, evitando di prendere posizione su un problema che mette in discussione il reale impatto del loro beniamino. Questo atteggiamento ha suscitato critiche, alimentando la consapevolezza che il problema, per quanto taciuto e dolosamente sottostimato, non è più tollerabile. La situazione rappresenta una palese contraddizione nell’applicazione della Legge 281/1991, la “Legge quadro in materia di animali di affezione e prevenzione del randagismo”. Questa normativa, introdotta con l’obiettivo di migliorare la convivenza tra uomini e animali, ha prodotto risultati significativi nella riduzione dell’abbandono dei cani, ormai un fenomeno raro in Toscana, assicurando anche la tutela delle colonie feline. Tuttavia, la norma sembra aver fallito quando, ad oggi, ci troviamo i “lupi-randagi” anche nei centri abitati a predare cani e gatti, anche all’interno dei giardini delle abitazioni. La situazione ad Arezzo solleva interrogativi urgenti sulla necessità di politiche più efficaci per gestire la presenza dei lupi, soprattutto nei dei centri abitati. Non è possibile ignorare il rischio che questi predatori rappresentano per gli animali domestici e per la sicurezza della popolazione.
