Il sindaco Alessandro Ghinelli accompagnato dai consiglieri Mattia Delfini e Luciano Ralli ha partecipato oggi a Oswiecim alle cerimonie per l’80° anniversario della liberazione da parte dell’Armata Rossa del campo di concentramento di Auschwitz – Birkenau. Con loro, anche il vescovo Andrea Migliavacca. Insieme alla delegazione, il sindaco ha deposto un mazzo di fiori in memoria delle vittime dell’Olocausto e ha preso parte alla solenne commemorazione del pomeriggio, cerimonia che si è svolta alla presenza di numerosi capi di Stato e teste coronate, tra i quali il presidente della Repubblica Sergio Mattarella. “Auschwitz ci ricorda che l’indifferenza è il più grande alleato del male – ha detto il sindaco Ghinelli. – Non possiamo permetterci di essere indifferenti di fronte all’ingiustizia, ognuno di noi ha il dovere di difendere i diritti umani e di promuovere un mondo più giusto e solidale. Essere qui oggi insieme a così tante personalità da ogni angolo del mondo é una testimonianza del nostro impegno collettivo a mantenere viva la memoria di coloro che persero la vita in questo inferno”.
Ad Arezzo, insieme alle autorità civili e militari, il vicesindaco Lucia Tanti ha partecipato alla deposizione della corona al Cimitero degli Ebrei nel Parco Ducci e alla cerimonia commemorativa che si è tenuta nella Sala dei Grandi della Provincia. “Arezzo non dimentica – ha dichiarato il vicesindaco – e in questa memoria collettiva noi abbiamo una responsabilità particolare, quale città sorella dell’allora Auschwitz”.
