Compleanno ultracentenario. Italo Benucci, maestro dell’arte della tessitura a telaio a Città di Castello, storico caporeparto del lanificio Cecchi Lido e figli, ha compiuto ieri 102 anni. Proprio nel giorno di chiusura del carnevale, Italo, ha festeggiato il traguardo di vita con la classica torta e brindisi di auguri attorniato dai familiari, la figlia Costanza e il genero Alfredo, ai quali negli ultimi anni si è affiancata la signora Natalia, per l’indispensabile aiuto e la compagnia.
Come ogni mattina anche ieri e oggi dopo aver fatto colazione si è presentato puntuale in edicola per il consueto appuntamento con la lettura dei quotidiani, punto fermo di ogni giornata come l’informazione dei Tg locali e nazionali e la partita a carte nel pomeriggio. Anche l’assessore Rodolfo Braccalenti, ha partecipato alla festa con tanto di auguri del sindaco Luca Secondi e della giunta comunale. “Con il suo esempio di vita in famiglia e in ambito lavorativo come maestro nell’uso dei telai meccanici – sottolineano Secondi e Braccalenti – Italo è stato uno degli artefici dello sviluppo industriale della città, in una stagione di grande crescita culturale, sociale ed economica del nostro territorio come quella degli anni Sessanta, nella quale si è distinto per un sincero amore nei confronti dei giovani, che ha fatto crescere con i suoi consigli, trasmettendo loro giorno dopo giorno passione e conoscenza: strumenti preziosi con i quali hanno imparato un mestiere, hanno potuto mettere su famiglia e in alcuni casi anche avviare esperienze imprenditoriali in proprio”. A partire dal 1964, quando si trasferì dalla vicina Toscana, per decenni Italo è stato il maestro di tantissimi giovani ai quali ha insegnato a manovrare i 50 telai industriali del Lanificio Cecchi. Era lui, infatti, che spalancava le porte della carriera lavorativa agli apprendisti che venivano inviati in azienda dall’ufficio di collocamento. Lo stabilimento di filatura e tessitura avviato nei primi anni Sessanta dall’imprenditore Lido Cecchi, toscano come Italo, contava in quegli anni circa 120 dipendenti e rappresentò la prima esperienza di industria tessile su basi tecnologicamente avanzate insediata nel territorio. Con l’amata moglie Fidalma, che si innamorò subito della città, Italo decise di stabilirsi a Città di Castello, dove è rimasto a vivere fino a oggi in semplicità e allegria con la figlia Costanza e il genero Alfredo, ai quali negli ultimi anni si è affiancata la signora Natalia, per l’indispensabile aiuto e la compagnia. “Quando sono arrivato a Città di Castello si praticava quasi esclusivamente l’agricoltura e il lanificio Cecchi sorse dove c’erano solo campi”, ha ricordato Italo, commosso al pensiero di quegli anni, ringraziando il sindaco e l’assessore per l’affetto e la vicinanza dimostrata. Con lui la “città dei centenari” festeggia un nuovo splendido esempio di longevità e si allarga sempre più. Sono infatti 22 gli ultracentenari che vivono in questo momento nel territorio comunale, 19 donne e 3 uomini.
