TORRITA DI SIENA -con la cerimonia di estrazione delle batterie di qualificazione Sfidando il tempo si è ufficialmente dato inizio al Palio dei Somari 2025 con l’estrazione delle batterie della Corsa che si terrà domenica 23 marzo. A seguire è stato presentato al pubblico il palio, dipinto dall’artista Giuliano Censini.
A Torrita di Siena nella serata di oggi, sabato 15 marzo, è ufficialmente iniziata la 68esima edizione del Palio dei Somari con la cerimonia di estrazione delle batterie di qualificazione per la corsa, la quale si svolgerà domenica 23 marzo alle ore 16:00, nel campo di gara allestito presso il Gioco del Pallone.
Sfidando il maltempo si è tenuta in Piazza Matteotti la tradizionale cerimonia, durante la quale i presidenti delle otto contrade, alla presenza del sindaco Giacomo Grazi e del neo eletto presidente dell’Associazione Sagra San Giuseppe Massimo Bolici, hanno sorteggiato gli abbinamenti tra le otto contrade per la fase eliminatoria della Corsa. La sorte ha così deciso: nella prima batteria si sfideranno le contrade di Porta a Pago, con il fantinoAlessandro Stampigioni soprannominato “Scheggia”, e Refenero, che schiera Alessio Deriu detto il “Pampero”; la seconda batteria è composta dalla contrada Cavone, conJonathan Guerri detto “Rafia”, e dalla contrada Le Fonti, con il fantinoThomas Ferretti detto “Brigante”. Nella terza batteria si affronteranno la contrada Porta a Sole, conMirko Ciancagli detto “Baturlo”, e la contrada Porta Gavina, con Matteo Noli detto “Galletto”, già fantino per Porta a Sole e Stazione ; la quarta coppia estratta è formata dalla contrada Porta Nova, con il fantino Alessandro Guerrini detto “Cobra”, e la contrada Stazione, con il fantinoFrancesco Landi soprannominato “Golino”, nuovo arrivato a Torrita di Siena, ma già fantino per il Palio di Asciano, dal quale è reduce di varie vittore.
Nella Corsa di domenica le quattro Contrade che non supereranno il primo turno correranno una batteria di recupero e tenteranno così di strappare l’ultimo biglietto per la finale. L’estrazione è stata seguita dalla presentazione del palio dipinto dall’artista Giuliano Censini, già pittore di alcuni drappi sia per il Palio dei Somari che per il Bravìo delle Botti di Montepulciano. Il drappo verrà nuovamente esposto sabato e domenica nella stanza della Sagra in via Ottavio Maestri e la settimana successiva nella Chiesa Madonna delle Nevi, un modo per tenere vivo il desiderio di vittoria dei contradaioli, i quali, camminando per le vie del paese, sapranno che sin dal primo giorno il premio da conquistare è lì pronto ad aspettarli.La tensione di questa prima giornata, che ha dato ufficialmente il via ai festeggiamenti e all’ attesa per la gara, è stata enfatizzata dall’apertura delle taverne dalle ore 19:00 nel Centro Storico, le quali hanno saputo rispondere in maniera veloce e funzionale all’emergenza del maltempo, aprendo le loro porte. Il programma si svilupperà poi nei giorni seguenti, con l’atteso appuntamento di Somarando, nella giornata di domani domenica 16 marzo, fino a domenica 23 marzo, quando alle ore 16:00 la corsa a dorso di somaro deciderà quale delle otto contrade potrà portare nella propria sede il drappo.
