Dal 3 al 5 aprile a Stia (Arezzo) “Iron Notes”

evento internazionale sulla tradizione artistica e artigianale della lavorazione del ferro Sabato 5 aprile alle 17:30 saranno presentate le prime novità della prossima Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile, in programma dal 4 al 7 settembre 

Dal 3 al 5 aprile 2025 a Stia, in provincia di Arezzo, si terrà “Iron Notes”, evento internazionale per la promozione dell’arte e della lavorazione del ferro, che si inserisce nel progetto europeo “At the borders of iron”,di cui la Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile di Stia, da anni parte di una rete europea di città e istituzioni, è uno dei partner.

Per tre giorni, nella cittadina immersa nella valle del Casentino l’associazione autonoma per la Biennale di Arte Fabbrile Stia in collaborazione con il Comune di Pratovecchio Stia ospiterà una delegazione di artisti, artigiani, designer, studenti, docenti, professionisti e appassionati del settore provenienti da Estonia, Finlandia, Norvegia e Svezia per riflettere sull’evoluzione di questa antica arte nella società odierna. 

L’evento segna il kick-off di una serie di appuntamenti che si svolgeranno nei prossimi due anni in tutta Europa e sarà anche l’occasione per dare il via alla XXVI edizione della Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile che si terrà a Stia nel Comune di Pratovecchio Stia dal 4 al 7 settembre.  Sabato 5 aprile, alle ore 9, si terrà un laboratorio di forgiatura aperto al pubblico a cura della scuola del ferro S.T.I.A. (School Training Iron & Arts): una dimostrazione pratica condotta da maestri fabbri, che mostreranno le tecniche tradizionali di forgiatura. Alle 17:30, presso le Officine Capodarno di Stia, verranno presentate le novità della prossima Biennale. Durante l’evento pubblico i partner europei presenteranno il proprio progetto, illustrandone brevemente attività e obiettivi. È il momento più importante della tre giorni, durante il quale i partner potranno condividere la propria tradizione e cultura, idee, esperienze e buone pratiche. Uno spazio di dialogo e confronto tra le diverse realtà coinvolte che potranno rafforzare così la collaborazione.

Con conferenze, dimostrazioni pratiche, visite guidare e convivialità, il meeting offrirà un’immersione nella tradizione artistica e artigianale della zona, con particolare attenzione all’arte della forgiatura dei metalli. Gli ospiti dell’evento potranno conoscere un territorio ricco di storia e di cultura che per la sua conformazione naturale ha influenzato lo sviluppo delle arti e dei mestieri tradizionali, ma anche scoprire i sapori e le peculiarità della valle del Casentino, tra le zone meno conosciute della Toscana. La delegazione farà visita al Castello di Poppi, a quello di Romena e alla sua Pieve e ancora al Museo della Lana di Stia, al Museo del ferro battuto e al Museo della montagna, per approfondire la conoscenza delle esperienze naturali e delle tradizioni artigianali locali. 

“Iron Notes” è un progetto cofinanziato dall’Unione Europea nell’ambito del programma Europa Creativa. Dà il via ufficialmente alla rete internazionale che si riunisce sotto il segno del ferro con l’obiettivo di promuovere la tradizione artistica e artigianale stimolando riflessioni sul ruolo e sull’uso di questo materiale nella società contemporanea. Il progetto intende rafforzare la consapevolezza della tradizione fabbrile, a valorizzare un patrimonio culturale che è custode di memorie della comunità e a diffonderlo a un pubblico più ampio. Artisti, artigiani, designer, studenti, docenti, professionisti del settore e appassionati sono chiamati a fare rete nell’ottica di uno scambio culturale, di studi e di esperienze per ripensare il ruolo di questo mestiere artigianale e adattarlo alle esigenze della società, sempre più in continua e rapida evoluzione e a rispondere alle sfide legate all’impatto ambientale della lavorazione del ferro. La delegazione che parteciperà all’evento è composta da 12 rappresentanti dei partner europei: LAB University of Applied Sciences (Finlandia) in qualità di coordinatore del progetto, Estonian Academy of Arts (Estonia), la Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabbrile (Italia), Oslo National Academy of the Arts (Norvegia), Göteborgs universitet (Svezia) e l’azienda di forgiatura ME-talli Oy (Finlandia). L’Italia, attraverso la Biennale d’Arte Fabbrile, consolida il ruolo di Stia e del Casentino come centri di eccellenza nella lavorazione del ferro. La manifestazione è anche parte integrante dell’Anello Europeo delle Città del Ferro (Ring of the European Cities of Iron Works), un’associazione che dal 2003 promuove e tutela la tradizione del ferro, unendo le città più significative d’Europa in questo ambito.
