Modena, La Tenda, ore 21:30 BEARZATTI / RISSO / BARBIERI “BEHIND ANATOMY” Sabato 26 aprile il festival itinerante Crossroads ritorna per l’ultima volta in questa sua edizione 2025 a Modena (la kermesse proseguirà poi in tutta la regione sino a estate inoltrata).
Protagonisti del concerto che si terrà alla Tenda (con inizio alle ore 21:30) saranno Francesco Bearzatti (sax tenore e clarinetto), Stefano Risso (contrabbasso ed elettronica) e Mattia Barbieri (batteria), che creeranno un omaggio fantascientifico a Duke Ellington. Behind Anatomy (2024, Auand Records), disco a nome collettivo di Francesco Bearzatti, Stefano Risso e Mattia Barbieri, fa letteralmente il verso alla colonna sonora composta da Duke Ellington per il film Anatomia di un omicidio (Anatomy of a Murder, 1959) diretto da Otto Preminger. E glielo fa nella maniera più sfacciata (e affettuosa) possibile: non ne riarrangia i brani musicali, che invece diventano piuttosto lo stimolo per nuove invenzioni con nuovi linguaggi. Behind Anatomy è un racconto attorno al racconto di Anatomia di un omicidio, il commento al quadrato su una colonna sonora epocale. Il procedimento è semplice quanto coraggioso e soprattutto efficace: i nostri tre estraggono brevi parti dalle pagine di Ellington, campionandole per creare le basi di una nuova musica. Gli estratti ellingtoniani sono usati in sovrapposizioni ri-creative: ritmi e accordi da pezzi diversi della colonna sonora messi uno sull’altro per creare nuove poliritmie e inedite armonizzazioni. A ciò aggiungete l’elettronica in mano a Risso, che non è semplice colore sonoro ma un vero modo di strutturare la narrazione, un punto di vista eccentrico e moderno su un universo sonoro antico. Se dalla Hollywood degli anni Cinquanta si era partiti, si arriva nella Hollywood del nuovo millennio, con le sue inquadrature vorticose, le prospettive roteanti, i montaggi che lanciano il suono verso fughe centrifughe. Bearzatti, Risso e Barbieri si appropriano delle tecniche dell’hip-hop per creare stratificazioni in cui galleggiano l’orecchiabile e il sofisticato, facendo emergere lo spirito blueseggiante della musica originale ellingtoniana ma anche la spregiudicatezza di quel jazz contemporaneo che è la loro personale cifra stilistica. Crossroads 2025 è organizzato come sempre da Jazz Network ETS in collaborazione con l’Assessorato alla Cultura della Regione Emilia-Romagna, con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura e di numerose altre istituzioni e con il patrocinio di ANCI Emilia-Romagna.
