Appresa la triste notizia della morte del Santo Padre, papa Francesco, il vescovo di Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro, monsignor Andrea Migliavacca, ha rivolto ai fedeli della diocesi questo pensiero:«Papa Francesco, dopo averci salutato e benedetto ieri, nel giorno di Pasqua, questa mattina ci ha lasciati per tornare alla casa del Padre.
Ora celebra in pienezza la Pasqua con il Signore risorto. Lo accompagniamo con la preghiera di tutta la Diocesi e mia personale. Anche a nome di tutta la nostra comunità diocesana, desidero esprimere sentimenti di grande gratitudine al Signore per il generoso ministero di papa Francesco, per la sua radicale testimonianza del Vangelo e per il bene che ha fatto alla Chiesa, al mondo e a tutti noi. In un momento storico nel quale la guerra sembra tornare prepotentemente a occupare l’orizzonte delle nostre vite, con papa Francesco la Chiesa cattolica, i credenti e il mondo intero perdono un punto di riferimento fermo, che ha sempre richiamato, dall’inizio del suo pontificato e fino al suo compimento, l’urgenza della pace. Anch’io, oggi, ho una grande tristezza nel cuore e sento il bisogno di esprimere la mia gratitudine al Papa per la fiducia che mi ha dimostrato nel chiamarmi a essere vescovo e a guidare prima la Chiesa di San Miniato e, adesso, quella di Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro. Affidiamo papa Francesco alla misericordia del Padre e, insieme con tutta la Chiesa, ci raccogliamo in preghiera per lui».
