San Giovanni Valdarno, 23 maggio 2025 – Funzioni come la memoria, l’affettività e la coscienza sono eventi immateriali: non si vedono, non si toccano e non hanno contorni, ma possiedono una loro esistenza reale quanto quella del mondo della materia. Questi e molti altri aspetti del funzionamento del cervello umano, l’intelletto e la coscienza hanno attirato un pubblico appassionato che ha fatto registrare il “tutto esaurito” al Festival delle Neuroscienze, nella giornata odierna, nella splendida cornice di Palazzo d’Arnolfo a San Giovanni Valdarno (Arezzo). Il festival, intitolato “ Cervello e fisica quantistica: due giganti a confronto”, si è svolto sotto forma dei dialoghi interdisciplinari con diversi focus e contributi da esperti di diverse discipline, che hanno preso parte all’evento concepito su iniziativa di Alessandro Rossi, professore di Fisiologia Umana e Neurologia dell’Università di Siena: nella sessione mattutina, il dialogo sulle applicazioni tecnologiche della fisica quantistica per lo studio delle funzioni cerebrali ha visto il coinvolgimento del Professor Pietro Pietrini, Neuroscienziato Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca e Antonio Smecca, Fisico Teorico della Swansea University moderati dal Dottor Luigi Ripamonti (responsabile Salute Corriere della Sera); nella sessione pomeridiana il Professor Alessandro Rossi, la Dr.ssa Catalina Oana Curceanu fisica degli INFN e il Professor Davide Romano Ricercatore del Dipartimento di Scienze Umane dell’Università di Verona hanno animato il dialogo sulla neurobiologia quantistica, sempre con la moderazione di Ripamonti. Le sessioni del Festival hanno fatto registrare oltre 250 presenze in totale, e migliaia di contatti da remoto, grazie alla trasmissione dell’evento in streaming online. “ La neurobiologia quantistica, ovvero lo studio dei fenomeni quantistici nel cervello e l’applicazione della scienza dell’informazione quantistica alla ricerca neuroscientifica, si afferma oggi come un ambito di studio concreto e promettente. Non è più possibile – né scientificamente giustificabile – ignorare l’interconnessione tra mente e meccanica quantistica” afferma il Professor Alessandro Rossi. È questo il messaggio forte e chiaro emerso durante il Festival che ha posto l’accento sul crescente dialogo tra due discipline apparentemente distanti ma sempre più vicine: la fisica dei quanti e le neuroscienze. “Ogni progresso in questi settori ha cambiato il nostro modo di vedere il mondo e di vedere noi stessi. Oggi sappiamo che la realtà non è qualcosa di oggettivo e statico, ma un’esperienza profondamente influenzata dai nostri modelli mentali e dalle nostre osservazioni. In questo contesto, cervello e meccanica quantistica non sono più considerati due universi separati, ma due linguaggi che descrivono la stessa realtà. Le implicazioni di questa visione sono enormi: dalla comprensione della coscienza e delle funzioni cognitive, fino allo sviluppo di tecnologie ispirate ai meccanismi quantistici del cervello”, conclude Rossi.
Questa edizione ha affiancato ai dialoghi scientifici diverse forme di espressione artistica: un’esecuzione a cura di due musicisti dell’Accademia Chigiana di Siena – Leonardo Ricci, violino e Giovanni Vai, clarinetto – che hanno eseguito brani simbolici della fisica classica e della fisica quantistica, creando un ponte tra scienza e arte e la riduzione teatrale dell’opera “Copenhagen” di Michael Frayn, che mette in scena un dialogo avvenuto nel 1941 tra Niels Bohr e Werner Heisenberg, due dei padri della fisica quantistica, in un confronto tra scienza, etica e responsabilità storica sull’uso del nucleare che ha visto la partecipazione di Umberto Orsini e Flavio Francucci. Il Festival si è confermato così un punto di riferimento per chi vuole esplorare le frontiere più avanzate del pensiero scientifico, promuovendo un dialogo interdisciplinare che potrebbe ridefinire il futuro della scienza. La seconda edizione del Festival delle Neuroscienze è stata organizzata con il sostegno della Clinica di Riabilitazione Toscana Spa (CRT), della Fondazione Gianfranco Salvini, in collaborazione con Fineco e Fondazione Accademia Musicale Chigiana, con la collaborazione di Trefoloni e Associati ed Inedita, con il patrocinio del MUR (Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca), della Regione Toscana, del Comune di San Giovanni Valdarno, del Comune di Terranova Bracciolini, dell’Azienda Ospedaliera Toscana Sud Est, dell’Università di Pisa e la media partnership del Corriere della Sera Salute.
