Concerto di martedì 15 luglio Rimini, Corte degli Agostiniani, ore 21:15 “UNFORGETTABLE” Omaggio a Nat King Cole ITALIAN JAZZ ORCHESTRA + special guests FLAVIO BOLTRO & WALTER RICCI
L’Italian Jazz Orchestra rinnova il suo legame con la Corte degli Agostiniani di Rimini, dove ormai da alcuni anni ritorna puntualmente presentando ogni volta un diverso progetto musicale tematico.
Tutto ciò all’interno del festival itinerante Crossroads, che per questa edizione punta su un omaggio a Nat King Cole, sotto la direzione diFabio Petretti e con la presenza di importanti special guests per le parti solistiche: il trombettista Flavio Boltro e il cantante Walter Ricci. Il concerto si terrà martedì 15 luglio alle ore 21:15.
L’Italian Jazz Orchestra ripesca una delle più fortunate tra le produzioni originali realizzate nel corso degli anni per il festival Crossroads: “Unforgettable”, un kolossal jazz orchestrale dedicato a Nat King Cole (1919-1965), jazzista sopraffino il cui successo è stato tanto debordante da farne un artista amato ben al di là delle categorie dei generi musicali. Prima di tutto pianista jazz, Cole raggiunse l’apice della fama quando iniziò a proporsi anche come cantante. Le sue esibizioni e incisioni in trio hanno fatto di lui un modello intramontabile della popular music americana.
Sul palco riminese, assieme al variegato organico dell’Italian Jazz Orchestra diretta da Fabio Petretti (17 elementi con una strumentazione crossover tra jazz e musica classica), saliranno Flavio Boltro e Walter Ricci.
Walter Ricci, che in questa edizione del festival si farà ascoltare anche in una dimensione radicalmente diversa, in duo con Karima, potrà qui esibirsi in uno dei contesti più ambiti da ogni solista: davanti a un’intera orchestra, archi compresi. Ricci calca i palchi dei più noti jazz club sin da giovanissimo. La sua carriera prende il via con la vittoria del premio “Massimo Urbani” nel 2006. Seguono le collaborazioni con Fabrizio Bosso e Stefano Di Battista e una lunga militanza come vocalist dell’orchestra televisiva di Domenica In, che gli permette di duettare, tra gli altri, con Michael Bublè e Mario Biondi. Con quest’ultimo si esibisce anche fuori dagli studi della RAI.
Flavio Boltro, nato a Torino nel 1961, si è rapidamente imposto come tromba di riferimento del jazz italiano: negli anni Ottanta suona nei Lingomania di Maurizio Giammarco e si esibisce con Steve Grossman, Cedar Walton, Billy Higgins, Clifford Jordan, Jimmy Cobb, Manhu Roche, Joe Lovano, Freddie Hubbard. Vince più volte il referendum Top Jazz (sia come solista che come membro dei Lingomania). Dagli anni Novanta la sua attività prende una nuova direzione, che guarda verso la Francia, dove ha vissuto fino a tempi recenti. Boltro partecipa ai più importanti gruppi transalpini, dall’Orchestre National de Jazz al sestetto di Michel Petrucciani e il quintetto di Michel Portal. Ma non si interrompono le collaborazioni con i principali nomi del jazz italiano, da Stefano Di Battista a Danilo Rea, passando per Gino Paoli in versione jazz. Nella sua discografia, momenti salienti sono i titoli pubblicati dalla Blue Note.
Crossroads 2025 è organizzato come sempre da Jazz Network ETS in collaborazione con l’Assessorato alla Cultura della Regione Emilia-Romagna, con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura e di numerose altre istituzioni e con il patrocinio di ANCI Emilia-Romagna. Il concerto è realizzato in collaborazione con il Settore Cultura del Comune di Rimini. Biglietti: prezzo intero euro 18; ridotto 15.
