Dal Comune semaforo verde alla realizzazione dell’itinerario da 793.000 euro, cofinanziato dal Fondo Unico Nazionale per il Turismo (FUNT) e dalla Regione Umbria
Città di Castello sarà il punto di partenza di una ippovia che raggiungerà Assisi nel segno di San Francesco.
La giunta comunale tifernate ha dato semaforo verde alla realizzazione dell’itinerario da 793.000 euro, cofinanziato per la medesima quota di 396.500 euro sia con le risorse del Fondo Unico Nazionale per il Turismo (FUNT) che da parte della Regione Umbria. Il progetto, che ha per capofila il Comune di Valfabbrica, coinvolge per il primo lotto funzionale riguardante il tratto nord anche Pietralunga, Gubbio e Assisi. La nuova ippovia, che ricalcherà in gran parte il tracciato della Via di Francesco e ne prenderà il nome, sarà quindi connotata dai riferimenti spirituali legati al patrono d’Italia, ma anche da una forte vocazione turistica. Il progetto, infatti, è parte di un’iniziativa più ampia per la valorizzazione del “turismo lento” in Umbria e mira a creare un percorso sicuro e accessibile per cavalieri e cavalli. A questo fine, l’identificazione, la mappatura e la verifica sul campo dell’itinerario sarà accompagnata da interventi specifici per superare le criticità morfologiche e viarie. Sarà così garantita la sicurezza del binomio cavallo-cavaliere. “Far parte di questo progetto rappresenta per Città di Castello uno sviluppo strategico della propria rete sentieristica e una tappa importante nella valorizzazione del patrimonio naturalistico del nostro territorio”, sottolinea l’assessore all’Ambiente Mauro Mariangeli. “Con l’ippovia apriamo interessanti prospettive per l’equiturismo, una modalità di viaggiare e soggiornare nel territorio che ha grandi potenzialità nel nostro comprensorio e che negli ultimi anni sta scalando l’indice di gradimento degli italiani”, evidenzia Mariangeli, rimarcando come “l’adesione a questo progetto risponda a due vocazioni fortemente identitarie per Città di Castello: la tradizione religiosa legata alla figura e al messaggio di San Francesco, ma anche la passione equestre che affonda le radici in oltre mezzo secolo di storia della Mostra Nazionale del Cavallo e in un contesto nel quale emergono numerose esperienze di eccellenza dagli allevamenti e dai centri ippici locali, non solo dal punto di vista sportivo, ma anche terapeutico”. “La possibilità di collegare la Via di Francesco all’itinerario naturalistico che costeggia il Tevere nel segno delle passeggiate a cavallo e di un modo di vivere il territorio più vicino all’ambiente e ai tesori naturalistici di cui siamo custodi – osserva Mariangeli – costituisce un promettente volano di sviluppo turistico che siamo molto interessati a sostenere”. All’adesione del Comune di Città di Castello al progetto dell’ippovia della Via di Francesco seguirà l’avvio del confronto tecnico e amministrativo con le altre municipalità coinvolte per acquisire le informazioni di base e definire le soluzioni finalizzate a mettere in atto le integrazioni e gli assestamenti del tracciato. La sottoscrizione dell’accordo di collaborazione tra gli enti locali collegati dall’itinerario sarà il punto di partenza per l’attivazione della successiva fase della pianificazione, l’elaborazione del progetto di fattibilità tecnica ed economica riguardante il primo lotto funzionale.
