Durante l’incontro, proposto da Astràgali Teatro, intervengono l’autrice e Jamil Boloyan, docente dell’Università di Bari e di quella del Salento, a cui Ephrikian ha chiesto di presentare il suo libro come amico armeno, per ricordare sempre le sue origini. Letture a cura di Roberta Quarta, attrice. Una donna italo-armena che parla dell’amore verso Africa. Questa volta, Laura Ephrikian smette i panni di narratrice della sua vita nel mondo dello spettacolo e racconta la storia di Clemen, una figura femminile d’altri tempi e dalle mille sfaccettature, dal cuore nobile ma tormentato. Nei diciannove capitoli, brevi ma intensi, si ripercorrono con semplicità la sua vita di pianista giovane e timida, la morte dei suoi genitori, i suoi “ingiusti” sensi di colpa e il riflesso degli ultimi nella sua movimentata vita amorosa, in cui la protagonista sembra non trovar pace. Non mancano, nella vita di Clemen, i meravigliosi paesaggi africani e la sua forte predisposizione a volere aiutare il prossimo: Gongoni, Malindi e Mombasa offrono alla donna il bello – i luoghi, gli animali, la semplicità e il cuore della gente – e il brutto – la povertà estrema, la violenza – della vita, quasi a voler donare al lettore croce e delizia di un mondo straordinario, ma difficile da vivere. Laura Ephrikian, nata a Treviso il 14 giugno 1940, è conosciuta nel mondo dello spettacolo come attrice con il nome di Laura Efrikian. È figlia di Angelo Ephrikian, violinista, direttore d’orchestra e compositore di origine armena. In giovane intraprende la strada dello spettacolo e studia recitazione al piccolo Teatro di Milano con Giorgio Strehler. Negli anni ’60 appare in televisione nel ruolo di annunciatrice. Negli ultimi tempi si dedica alla scrittura con “La vita non ha età”, “Como l’olmo e l’edera”, “Incontri”, “Lettere a Laura dal mondo dei nessuno”, “Ephrikian. Una famiglia armena”, fino al suo ultimo romanzo “L’amore non sceglie”.
