Roma e Cinisi quello stesso giorno furono entrambe teatro di due barbari omicidi che colpirono l’Italia al cuore Nell’anniversario del ritrovamento del corpo di Aldo Moro, il 9 maggio 1978 in via Caetani a Roma – ucciso dalle Brigate Rosse dopo 55 giorni di prigionia -, si celebra il Giorno in memoria delle vittime del terrorismo e delle stragi.
Roma e Cinisi. La capitale d’Italia e un piccolo paese della Sicilia. Due luoghi così distanti ma, il 9 maggio del 1978, così uniti nel dolore. Essendo state entrambe teatro, nello stesso giorno, di due barbare uccisioni: quelle di Aldo Moro e di Peppino Impastato. Era il 16 marzo 1978 quando lo statista democristiano venne rapito dalle Brigate Rosse. La mattina di quel triste giorno, poco dopo le 9, un commando delle Br entrò in azione in via Fani. I terroristi rossi avevano studiato tutto nei minimi dettagli: con un tamponamento fermarono le auto, aprirono il fuoco uccidendo i cinque uomini della scorta, caricarono il presidente della Dc su una Fiat 132 blu e lo portarono via. Poco tempo dopo, con una telefonata, l’organizzazione terroristica rivendicò il sequestro, che si concluse drammaticamente 55 giorni dopo con l’uccisione dello statista. Quel 9 maggio, sempre con una telefonata, i terroristi rossi lanciarono un’ultima, drammatica comunicazione. Il cadavere di Aldo Moro venne ritrovato dalla polizia, verso le 13,30, nel portabagagli di una Renault 4 rossa in via Caetani, vicino alle sedi di Dc e Pci. Peppino Impastato venne assassinato da Cosa Nostra nella notte tra l’8 e il 9 maggio del 1978. Dopo aver fondato Radio Aut, emittente libera attraverso cui sbeffeggiava e denunciava delitti e affari mafiosi di Cinisi e Terrasini, soprattutto del capomafia Gaetano Badalamenti, quello stesso anno si era appena candidato alle elezioni comunali nella lista di Democrazia Proletaria. Inizialmente il delitto venne etichettato come un atto terroristico finito male, di cui lo stesso Peppino sarebbe stato autore e vittima. Ma il fratello Giovanni e la mamma Felicia si spesero con tutto loro stessi per far emergere la verità, avere giustizia e vedere riconosciuta, e punita, la matrice mafiosa di quell’omicidio. L’inchiesta venne formalmente riaperta nel 1996 grazie alla testimonianza del collaboratore di giustizia Salvatore Palazzolo, che indicò come esecutore dell’assassinio Vito Palazzolo, che fu condannato dalla Corte d’assise il 5 marzo 2001 a trent’anni di reclusione. E come mandante Gaetano Badalamenti, condannato l’11 aprile 2002 all’ergastolo A ricorrenza, istituita da una legge del 2007, unisce al ricordo di chi ha subito eventi drammatici, il sostegno morale e la vicinanza delle istituzioni e dei cittadini alle famiglie. Nello stesso giorno la mafia uccide Peppino Impastato, giornalista e attivista di Cinisi. Si risalirà ai colpevoli solo 10 anni più tardi, mentre le condanne sono arrivate tra il 2001 e il 2002: 30 anni per Vito Palazzolo ed ergastolo per il boss Gaetano Badalamenti, entrambi riconosciuti come mandanti dell’omicidio.
