Questa mattina è partito dalla chiesa di S. Giovanni Battista e S. Bartolomeo in Ca’ di Cio ad Arezzo il quinto tir carico di alimenti e generi di prima necessità raccolti grazie alla Caritas diocesana di Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro e diretti nella diocesi di Drohiczyn nella Polonia centro-orientale, vicino al confine con la Bielorussia, a sostegno delle persone in fuga dalla guerra in Ucraina. In totale sono circa 100 le tonnellate di materiali donati con i cinque invii realizzati finora tra alimenti a lunga conservazione, medicinali, materiale per l’igiene personale, e per i bambini
A fornire un sostegno importante per caricare i tir è stata la ditta Sgrevi Srl di Arezzo. In questo quinto carico di alimenti e generi di prima necessità, ha dato un contributo anche Coldiretti Arezzo.
A questa iniziativa si affiancano le offerte in denaro, giunte numerose grazie alla generosità del popolo di Arezzo, Cortona e Sansepolcro con circa 120mila euro raccolti. Caritas sta anche sostenendo 45 famiglie del territorio diocesano che ospitano persone provenienti dall’Ucraina. “Si tratta di una piccola carezza per chi soffre ed è il segno della cultura aretina: la concretezza” dice l’arcivescovo Riccardo Fontana. “La gente ha risposto con entusiasmo e grande senso di solidarietà per aiutare coloro che sono in fuga dal freddo, dalle bombe e dalla fame”.
“Voglio sottolineare il grande lavoro svolto da tutte le Caritas parrocchiali, in collaborazione con le parrocchie della Diocesi”, afferma don Alessandro Nelli, co-direttore della Caritas diocesana. L’iniziativa è partita dal solido rapporto tra l’arcivescovo Riccardo Fontana, vescovo di Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro e il vescovo Piotr Sawczuk, pastore della diocesi polacca di Drohiczyn, a seguito di un gemellaggio che lega in maniera fraterna le due Chiese. Sono sette i presbiteri originari della Chiesa di Drohiczyn che offrono il loro servizio nella diocesi toscana.
