Torrita di Siena – L’Associazione Sagra San Giuseppe dedica al valore della pace l’edizione 2022La manifestazione si svolge in via eccezionale dal 21 al 29 maggio È finalmente arrivato il momento del 65° Palio dei Somari a Torrita di Siena. Eccezionalmente dal 21 a 29 maggio 2022, l’Associazione Sagra San Giuseppe presenta un’edizione che vuole essere idealmente ispirata alla pace, considerata condizione imprescindibile per la vita e il progresso di ogni comunità.
Oltre a segnare il ritorno delle celebri Taverne, il Palio dei Somari 2022 propone vari eventi fino a domenica 29 maggio, quando, nella corsa a dorso di somaro, le otto Contrade si contenderanno l’ambito drappo che quest’anno è dipinto dall’artista Salvatore Ferrante “Soterus”. «A Torrita di Siena – commenta il presidente dell’Associazione Sagra San Giuseppe Yuri Cardini – si respira già un clima di festa che sicuramente andrà aumentando nei prossimi giorni, quando si entrerà nel vivo della manifestazione. È in questa atmosfera così gioiosa che tuttavia si avvertono come ancora più drammatici i fatti che stanno accadendo in Ucraina. Per questo, simbolicamente, come Associazione si intende dedicare l’edizione del Palio dei Somari che sta per cominciare al valore che ha la pace per tutte le comunità del mondo». La 65esima edizione del Palio dei Somari ha inizio ufficialmente sabato 21 maggio alle ore 17.00, con l’apertura del Mercato Medievale de La Nencia, l’esposizione di manufatti artigianali che si snoda nelle vie del centro storico, a cui segue, alle 18.00, la cerimonia in cui vengono estratti gli abbinamenti delle Contrade per la fase di qualificazione della Corsa. Alle ore 20.00 si aprono le Taverne, i diversi luoghi in cui le Contrade servono differenti squisitezze, animati da spettacoli itineranti in stile medievale. L’intrattenimento continua in piazza con il gruppo de Gli Acrobati del Borgo e, fino a tarda notte, con la musica folk-rock de I Matti delle Giuncaie. Domenica 22, per tutta la giornata i giardini adiacenti al centro storico si trasformano in Somarando, l’area per bambini dove sono presenti gli animali protagonisti della manifestazione; nel borgo, al Mercato Medievale de La Nencia si aggiunge la Mostra di Arti e Mestieri, una caratteristica immagine di artigiani impegnati in lavori dimenticati nel tempo.Dalle 15.30, gli spettacoli di acrobati e saltimbanchi nel borgo e l’esibizione del gruppo di Sbandieratori, Tamburini e Musici del Rione Cassero di Castiglion Fiorentino anticipano l’esibizione, alle ore 20.00, degli allievi della scuola del Gruppo Sbandieratori e Tamburini e, alle 21.00, la proiezione dell’anteprima del docufilm Passione senza Fine, dedicato alla storia e all’attività trentennale del Gruppo. Alle 19.30 torna l’appuntamento con le Taverne. Mercoledì 25 in Piazza Matteotti è attesa la proiezione del divertente lungometraggio Frankciukeinstein “pichino”, realizzato dal Gruppo In Vino Veritas, composto da affezionati al mondo del Palio che si sono cimentati in una parodia del celebre film di Mel Brooks, declinandolo sugli elementi caratteristici del Palio dei Somari. È invece all’interno delle otto Contrade che si rivolge l’attenzione venerdì 20, data delle cene propiziatorie, nel corso delle quali i Contradaioli accolgono i propri fantini: Jonathan Guerri “Rafia” per Cavone; Gabriele Grotti “Divino” per Le Fonti; Alessandro Stampigioni “Scheggia” per Porta a Pago; Diego Sargentoni “Joker” per Porta a Sole; Andrea Peruzzi “Drago” per Porta Gavina; Alessandro Guerrini “Cobra” per Porta Nova; Alessio Deriu “Pampero” per Refenero e Matteo Noli “Galletto” per Stazione. Sabato 28, alle 21.30 in piazza Matteotti, viene mostrato il drappo del Palio dei Somari 2022, dipinto per questa edizione da Salvatore Ferrante “Soterus”, che dal 2011 vive a Torrita di Siena, dove ha iniziato la sua carriera artistica, sperimentando l’unione tra pittura e lavorazione del legno. Per conoscere meglio questo artista e la sua tecnica di pittoscultura, dal 21 al 29 maggio si può visitare la mostra allestita con alcune sue opere in Via Maestri.Alle 22.00 viene lasciato spazio alla gara a coppie tra gli Sbandieratori e i Tamburini delle Contrade e all’esibizione dei quartetti degli antichi Castelli.
Domenica 24 l’ingresso del corteo di ciascuna Contrada in piazza Matteotti segna l’inizio della giornata che prosegue con la Santa Messa, officiata nella Chiesa dei Santi Costanzo e Martino, con le esibizioni degli Sbandieratori e i Tamburini in piazza Matteotti e il lungo corteo storico per le vie del borgo. Il Palio dei Somari si corre nel pomeriggio, alle 16.00, nel campo di gara allestito presso il Gioco del Pallone. In caso di pioggia il Palio è rimandato a giovedì 2 giugno.
