Spazio, missione Artemis I – Il lancio è previsto per il 29 agosto. A bordo tecnologia italiana e immagini, canzoni e poesie raccolte nel nostro Paese dall’Asi Mancano pochi giorni al lancio della missione Nasa Artemis I che aprirà al ritorno dell’uomo sulla Luna.
Il volo di prova, senza equipaggio, è previsto per le 14.33 italiane di lunedì 29 agosto, tra poco più di dieci giorni. In caso di rinvio, la Nasa ha già individuato altre due possibili date: il 2 settembre, alle 18.48, oppure il 5 settembre alle 23.12. La piattaforma 39B del Kennedy Space Center è pronta per la partenza del vettore statunitense Space Launch System (Sls) che porterà per la prima volta attorno al satellite la capsula Orion. Gli Stati Uniti tornano sulla Luna a distanza di mezzo secolo dall’ultima missione del programma Apollo .
La missione dovrebbe durare circa 40 giorni: Orion resterà nello spazio più a lungo di qualsiasi altra navetta per astronauti mai progettata (senza mai attraccare) e si spingerà in luoghi dove altri dispositivi non sono mai arrivati prima. Anche l’Italia parteciperà a questo importante traguardo: le parti del modulo di servizio European Service Module (Esm) di Orion sono infatti realizzate grazie alla cooperazione tra l’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (Asi), l’industria e diverse piccole e medie imprese. In più, per iniziativa della stessa Asi, lo Space Launch System porterà con sé nello spazio anche immagini, canzoni e poesie ispirate alla Luna, inviate da scuole, ospedali e cittadini italiani.
