I vertici del Club alpino italiano tornano sul territorio, con un Comitato direttivo centrale che vuole testimoniare l’attenzione per l’impatto ambientale, della presenza dell’uomo, sulle Terre alte. Dopo Cortina d’Ampezzo è il turno delle Alpi Apuane: meraviglioso scrigno di bellezza e biodiversità, interessato però dall’estrazione del marmo e del carbonato di calcio. Le cave simbolizzano il dilemma tra preservazione e sfruttamento del territorio. Da sempre il Sodalizio è a fianco del Cai Carrara e delle associazioni, con l’obiettivo di sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica sul tema. Il luogo prescelto è il Rifugio Carrara, di proprietà dell’omonima Sezione del Cai. Sabato 17 settembre, alle 8.30 è previsto l’incontro del Comitato direttivo centrale. Alle 13.30, è il momento della Conferenza dei Presidenti regionali e provinciali. Alle 18.30, invece, è il turno del Comitato centrale di indirizzo e controllo. Infine, è previsto un momento di approfondimento, con il film “Cave Canem” del regista locale Alberto Grossi. “Le Alpi Apuane sono il luogo in cui il contrasto tra natura e antropizzazione emerge in maniera netta e indiscutibile, ma può diventare anche il territorio in cui trovare nuove strade e percorsi di coesistenza tra attività dell’uomo e preservazione della biodiversità. Con il Comitato direttivo centrale al Rifugio Carrara, il Club alpino italiano vuole toccare con mano’ i problemi delle Alpi Apuane per trovare soluzioni e proporre modelli che sappiano delineare uno sviluppo del territorio equilibrato e sostenibile dal punto di vista ambientale”, spiega il Presidente generale del Club alpino italiano Antonio Montani. “É con grande riconoscenza che accogliamo il Presidente generale e i vertici apicali del nostro Sodalizio in questo territorio dove le cave, da fonte di lavoro per la popolazione locale, sono diventate uno dei disastri ambientali maggiori di tutto il pianeta. I media parlano spesso del marmo per l’arte ma questa è una piccola destinazione della produzione, quasi insignificante. Il prodotto principale è il carbonato di calcio, circa l’85% del materiale estratto. Distruggiamo intere montagne per fare polvere. Il Cai vorrebbe il ritorno a limiti più tollerabili, potrebbero essere il 40%, ad esempio. Tante cose sarebbero da cambiare per salvare dalla distruzione queste montagne, un’eccezionale biodiversità e la grande quantità di acqua che producono. Questo incontro sarà un’occasione per portare la conoscenza a livello nazionale, auspicando un concreto interesse dai ministeri competenti”, afferma Il Presidente del Cai Toscana Giancarlo Tellini. Le cave sono il filo rosso che guiderà il Presidente generale Montani, la Vicepresidente generale Laura Colombo, i delegati e tutti i partecipanti all’evento, nell’escursione di domenica 18. L’itinerario parte dal rifugio Carrara, si snoda lungo i prati di Campocecina e arriva fino a Capanna Martignoni, da cui si possono osservare gli impianti di estrazione dall’alto. Infine, dal generale lo sguardo passa al particolare, con la visita alle cave del Sagro, luogo significativo in grado di testimoniare e raccontare la storia passata e presente di questi territori. I camminatori saranno accompagnati dal Presidente del Cai Carrara Brunella Bologna e dai soci della Sezione, che racconteranno il territorio e le sue problematiche.
