Sono sei i mercati ad Arezzo per un superficie totale di vendita pari a 10.167 metri quadrati, 243 posteggi e 1.248 giorni di attività: quello settimanale del sabato con 202 posteggi, il mercato rionale di Saione a cadenza giornaliera dal lunedì al venerdì con 6 posteggi, il mercato rionale di SantAgostino con analoga cadenza e 11 posteggi, il mercato del martedì di Rigutino a cadenza settimanale con 14 posteggi, il mercato rionale di Pescaiola sotto il cavalcavia della tangenziale urbana a cadenza giornaliera dal lunedì al sabato con 7 posteggi, il mercato rionale di via Lorenzetti con la stessa cadenza e 3 posteggi.
Capitolo fiere: lantiquaria come noto ha 12 edizioni mensili e cade la prima domenica e il sabato antecedente. Conta ordinariamente 246 posteggi a eccezione delledizione di settembre quando il totale di questultimi sale a 353 con unestensione dellarea adibita al Prato e a via Buozzi.
Le altre fiere sono 6, per un superficie totale di vendita pari a 10.964 metri quadrati, 362 posteggi e 45 giornate. Quella del mestolo si tiene il 9, 10 e 11 settembre di ogni anno e conta 246 posteggi, quella della santissima annunziata il 25 marzo di ogni anno con 51 posteggi, quella della Madonna del conforto il 15 febbraio di ogni anno con 10 posteggi, quella di San Donato il6 e il 7 agosto di ogni anno con 3 posteggi il primo giorno e 5 il secondo, quella di Natale nelle piazze San Jacopo e Risorgimento in concomitanza con Arezzo – Città del Natale con 29 posteggi, quella di Natale in piazza SantAgostino nelle 2 domeniche antecedenti ogni Natale con 18 posteggi.
Il cosiddetto svuotacasa entra nelle previsioni regolamentari, quello attuale si tiene nellarea verde di Campo di Marte e ha una cadenza mensile, corrispondente alla terza domenica, da febbraio a novembre con 47 posteggi.
I mercatini del non professionisti si tengono in piazza SantAgostino e via Margaritone da febbraio ad agosto e da ottobre a dicembre la prima domenica del mese e il sabato antecedente. Contano 28 posteggi.
Ci sono poi i posteggi stabili extra-mercati e quelli, sempre extra-mercati, legati a eventi e a carattere isolato, dal camioncino dei panini alla bancarella con i gadget del Saracino ai caldarrostai. Sono 21 in totale.
Non sono stati accolti dallassessore e poi respinti dallaula alcuni emendamenti di Michele Menchetti proposti nello specifico per lo svuotacasa. Menchetti chiedeva che fosse esteso da febbraio a dicembre e che potessero parteciparvi i residenti della provincia e non solo del Comune. Analogo destino per lemendamento di Scelgo Arezzo per una più ampia concertazione tra Comune e tutte le categorie economiche quando si profila listituzione di nuovi mercati e nuove fiere.
