Mattia e Tommaso Scartocci sono due fratelli romani. Il primo è non vedente a causa di uno stupido incidente coi petardi di Capodanno, un handicap che lo ha reso anche molto scontroso e intrattabile; il secondo gli fa quasi da tutore occupandosi serenamente di tutte le faccende del fratello, sapendo ormai come prenderlo e gestirlo…
Tommaso decide di portare il fratello in una famosa clinica ospedaliera di New York, convincendolo che si tratta della clinica oftalmica numero uno al mondo e che lì potrà finalmente riacquistare la vista. In ospedale faranno la conoscenza di Michele Lorusso, dottore cinico e rigoroso che ha deciso di lasciare la sua Puglia a favore del sogno americano dal momento che, in Italia, gli è sempre stato impossibile trovare lavoro. L’incontro fra i 3 darà vita ad un susseguirsi di gag e risate: l’irascibilità di Mattia si scontrerà con la pignoleria del Dottor Lorusso e, fra loro, Tommaso cercherà di essere l’ago della bilancia che mantiene tutto in equilibrio. Anche perché solo in questo modo gli sarà possibile andare fino in fondo nel suo rocambolesco piano…
Sì… Perché il problema agli occhi non è il vero motivo per cui Mattia, a sua insaputa, è stato trascinato a New York… Cosa nasconde Tommaso Scartocci? Il Dottor Lorusso come prenderà la verità dei fatti? Lo scopriremo a teatro nella commedia brillante “Scusate… ma dovevo!”, scritta da Emiliano Morana ed Alessandro Bonanni per la regia di Emiliano Morana.
