La ‘residenza’ del festival Crossroads al Teatro Asioli di Correggio (RE) prosegue con un nuovo appuntamento venerdì 26 maggio. A partire dalle ore 21, si succederanno le esibizioni di due band, entrambe con programmi musicali che esplorano importanti repertori jazzistici. La serata inizierà con l’omaggio alle musiche di Charlie Haden proposto dal Rope Trio (con Fabrizio Puglisi al pianoforte, Stefano Senni al contrabbasso e Zeno De Rossi alla batteria); a seguire si ascolteranno le musiche di Thelonious Monk reinterpretate dal Koro Almost Brass Quintet (Fulvio Sigurtà a tromba e flicorno, Cristiano Arcelli al sax contralto, Giovanni Hoffer al corno, Massimo Morganti al trombone, Glauco Benedetti alla tuba). Crossroads 2023 è organizzato da Jazz Network in collaborazione con l’Assessorato alla Cultura della Regione Emilia-Romagna e con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura e di numerose altre istituzioni. Il festival vanta il patrocinio di ANCI Emilia-Romagna e di SIAE. Il concerto è realizzato in collaborazione con il Comune di Correggio nell’ambito di Correggio Jazz. Biglietti: prezzo unico euro 15 (posto numerato). Attivo dal 2002, il Rope Trio ha definito un suo personale approccio al concetto del piano trio, depurandolo da qualunque virtuosismo, per catapultarlo in una modernità che rimane comunque in amichevoli rapporti con la tradizione di questo format. In due decenni di attività la formazione ha sia lavorato su materiali originali che rielaborato pagine di autori assai diversi come John Zorn, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, Misha Mengelberg, Jelly Roll Morton, Bernard Hermann, Herbie Nichols. La discografia del gruppo, iniziata con Have You Met Miss Bates? (2005) e Saints and Sinners (2009), si è arricchita con il recente In the Moment (2021), dedicato alla musica di Charlie Haden, la cui figlia, Petra Haden, ha partecipato all’album come vocalist. Il Koro Almost Brass Quintet è una formazione che muove i suoi primi passi sulla scena live, ma i suoi componenti sono tutti nomi ben noti, trattandosi di alcuni dei più interessanti e affermati musicisti jazz italiani.
