“La frattura di femore è un evento piuttosto frequente nella popolazione anziana- Spiega il dott.Luigi Ciampalini -Le sue conseguenze sulla durata e sulla qualità di vita sono estremamente serie: la mortalità a un anno dei soggetti con frattura di femore è superiore al 20%. Rispetto ad altre opzioni terapeutiche, infatti, all’intervento chirurgico precoce sono stati associati un minor rischio di complicanze post-operatorie, una più rapida ripresa funzionale e un benefico effetto sulla mortalità a breve e medio termine. Perciò, se è importante la tempistica con cui i pazienti con frattura del collo del femore vengono operati, è preliminare e ancora più importante che essi siano innanzitutto sottoposti a intervento chirurgico” Le Linee Guida disponibili raccomandano che l’intervento chirurgico venga effettuato non oltre le 48 ore, a seconda del caso. Gli studi infatti mostrano che a lunghe attese per l’intervento corrisponde un aumento del rischio di mortalità e di disabilità del paziente. La tempestività con cui viene effettuato l’intervento per la frattura del collo del femore è, quindi, una determinante del recupero funzionale dell’individuo e riduce il rischio di pesanti conseguenze in termini di complicanze, disabilità e impatto sulla vita sociale. Il processo assistenziale, in questo caso, è fortemente influenzato dalla capacità organizzativa della struttura, che può determinare la puntualità dell’intervento o ritardi che possono anche variare fortemente. “ Questo importante risultato – conclude il dottor Ciampalini- è stato raggiunto grazie al lavoro di squadra con il pronto soccorso e la radiologia, che sono stati in in grado di svolgere procedure diagnostiche rapide e di inviare tempestivamente il paziente al reparto” Per quanto riguarda l’attività complessiva dell’Ortopedia della Gruccia vengono effettualti oltre 1300 interventi/anno, una parte dei quali con protesica robotica.
