L’abbandono della ruralità in passato si è diffusa a macchia d’olio, nelle rappresentazioni sociali ed economiche nel circondario, provocando la fuga dalla montagna alla città. Le storie, raccontate dalla gente comune ha dato il fascino di cose rare in via d’estinzione. Letture e narrazioni attaccati a un filo spesso testimone di borghi che resistono al tempo che passa, nonostante la desolazione che li contraddistingue. Strade deserte, si mostrano in tutto il loro coraggio struggente di scorci di una vita che ancora qualcuno sussurra. La scomparsa delle attività artigianali è stato un detergente di una rivoluzione copernicana ribaltata dalla montagna alla città, dalla periferia verso il centro, inducendo così una forte mobilità demografica mai vista prima e determinando estese sacche di marginalità economica e culturale. Per il piccolo borgo le storie hanno significato il cambiamento delle abitudini, avvenuto fin dal secolo scorso subito dopo la guerra, complice la scelta del boom economico e la visione di un’esistenza ad una ‘vita in città’ e il ‘lavoro in fabbrica’, avrebbero garantito la trasformazione radicale del modo di vivere della collettività. Il profondo mutamento, avvenuto in un lasso di tempo molto breve, in altre parole, se la popolazione italiana negli ultimi 60 anni è cresciuta la montagna ha perso Luoghi che prima garantivano la sopravvivenza secondo le regole, improvvisamente non sono risultati più idonei a sostenere i guadagni e le esigenze della società del consumo.
