Per i diritti che ancora mancano, per i malati che non sono curati adeguatamente, per i giovani “disorientati ed inascoltati”, gli anziani scarsamente assistiti, il lavoro “sottopagato”, i troppi femminicidi ed anche, non manca di ricordare, i tanti che eludono le tasse e quasi se ne vantano invece di essere “orgogliosi” di contribuire allo sviluppo del Paese.
Sergio Mattarella si rivolge ai cittadini nel suo tradizionale discorso di fine anno (un intervento sobrio, di 16 minuti, in piedi davanti alle telecamere) ed a tratti sembra un duro atto d’accusa rispetto ad alcuni mali endemici del Belpaese. Come quando dice che “i tempi delle liste d’attesa in Sanita sono inaccettabilmente lunghi” e che “i costi degli alloggi universitari sono improponibili” per moltissime famiglie. Ma sono dolorose punture di spillo per svegliare coscienze sopite: invece nella lettura complessiva del testo presidenziale emerge con forza la voglia di rivitalizzare le energie positive degli italiani, di solleticare l’orgoglio nazionale affinché si trovi finalmente “il coraggio di ascoltare”, di ascoltare l’altro che mai deve essere identificato come un nemico. Cita più volte la forza della Repubblica, ed una volta anche la parola Patria, ma assai di più il termine Costituzione, la cornice entro la quale l’Italia deve andare avanti, crescere e diventare una società migliore. “Solidarietà, libertà, uguaglianza, giustizia, pace sono i valori che la Carta pone a base della nostra convivenza. E che appartengono all’identità stessa dell’Italia”. Per questo sceglie di chiudere il discorso garantendo agli italiani “che uniti siamo forti”. Fermo nel denunciare le cose che non vanno, il presidente della Repubblica non cade mai nel pensiero negativo: invita, rassicura e stimola l’identità nazionale richiamando la gente a volare alto. Tanto del suo intervento è dedicato ai ragazzi ai quali si rivolge direttamente ritornando al fil rouge del suo pensiero, cioè l’aumento delle violenze. E in questo caso la violenza “più odiosa”, quella contro le donne: “vorrei rivolgermi – premette – ai più giovani. Cari ragazzi, ve lo dico con parole semplici: l’amore non è egoismo, possesso, dominio, malinteso orgoglio. L’amore – quello vero – è ben più che rispetto: è dono, gratuità, sensibilità”. E sempre principalmente ai giovani dedica un garbato richiamo dal sapore squisitamente civico: “possiamo dare tutti qualcosa alla nostra Italia. Qualcosa di importante. Anche con la partecipazione attiva alla vita civile. A partire dall’esercizio del diritto di voto”. Perché, spiega, “per definire la strada da percorrere, è il voto libero che decide. Non rispondere a un sondaggio, o stare sui social”. Un appello a votare quindi, che in Italia vale per tutte le generazioni visto il trend preoccupante di disaffezione al voto. Nessun riferimento alla politica in senso stretto da parte del capo dello Stato, anche se un passaggio dell’intervento, sempre dedicato alla necessità di abbassare i toni, può far pensare molti di essere chiamati in causa: c’è la “pessima tendenza di identificare avversari o addirittura nemici. Verso i quali praticare forme di aggressività. Anche attraverso le accuse più gravi e infondate. Spesso, travolgendo il confine che separa il vero dal falso”, afferma il presidente senza dettagliare. In realtà Mattarella pensa più alla “svolta epocale del terzo millennio” che è rappresentata dall’Intelligenza Artificiale della quale loda le opportunità ma ricorda i rischi senza un’attenta regolamentazione: “dobbiamo fare in modo che la rivoluzione che stiamo vivendo resti umana. Cioè, iscritta dentro quella tradizione di civiltà che vede, nella persona – e nella sua dignità – il pilastro irrinunziabile”. Infine le guerre, “l’angoscia” per conflitti che divampano ed altri che covano pericolosamente, prefigurando quella guerra mondiale “a pezzi” che Mattarella ha mutuato dal Papa.
Equilibrato nel condannare le atrocità di Hamas e la reazione di Israele che “provoca migliaia di vittime civili”, il presidente cerca di guardare oltre e dice la sua nel delicatissimo dibattito sulla pace: “è indispensabile fare spazio alla cultura della pace. Parlare di pace, oggi, non è astratto buonismo. Al contrario, è il più urgente e concreto esercizio di realismo, se si vuole cercare una via d’uscita a una crisi che può essere devastante per il futuro dell’umanità”. Segnali di una preoccupazione che cresce anche al Quirinale rispetto ad una escalation muscolare che sembra aver bloccato qualunque riflessione profonda sul valore del pacifismo. Tra solidarietà e diritti, tanto citati dal presidente, si inserisce con forza il richiamo all’umanità che tanto ha pervaso il discorso presidenziale: “affermare i diritti significa anche non volgere lo sguardo altrove di fronte ai migranti”.
