Socialista ai tempi di Bettino Craxi che frequentò per due anni, per diciassette anni amante di Federico Fellini (una cosa confessata per la prima volta a Porta a porta nel 2009), si può dire che abbia fatto della sua vita affettiva un vero e proprio film. E questo già dalle nozze nel 1948, a quindici anni, con il marchese Cesare Rodighiero (matrimonio durato 21 giorni), fino alla relazione di undici anni con Moris Ergas (da cui nacque Deborah) per arrivare, infine, all’unione con Ottavio De Lollis (da cui ha avuto Ciro e Azzurra). Sempre nel segno di “una svanita piena di saggezza”, nel 2007 la Milo, durante una intervista tv, raccontò di aver aiutato la madre in fin di vita a morire. “Mia madre si stava consumando – disse allora l’attrice tra le lacrime -. Così, mi chiese di aiutarla a morire. Mi ha fatto uscire dalla stanza, ed è morta, sola, come lei voleva. So che c’è molta gente a favore dell’eutanasia e molta contro, ma come si fa a dire ‘no’ se sai che quella persona non avrà scampo a causa del male che l’ha colpita? La gente deve poter morire con dignità”.
